Court storming solution

My thing is safety in general. For everyone involved. It’s flat out dangerous and only a matter of time before someone gets really hurt.

Every year, people die from this sort of thing at soccer games or concerts. Trampled, crushed or suffocated.
Quick google search says not every year for sporting events. It’s actually very rare as far as field storming goes.

Crush injuries are typically caused by the fans' movement being restricted. Large numbers of fans limited to a single entrance/exit gate, for instance, or more relevant to this discussion fans crushed against a fence surrounding the field. Both of these were present in the Hillsborough disaster, one of the best known crush disasters at a sporting event. Every time I see these discussions on preventing fans from entering the field of play I worry that we'll see a push to restrict fan movement, which will certainly cause crush deaths. As chaotic as it is, rushing the court or the field is safer overall than most attempts at restricting fan movement.

You want it fixed for GOOD? Force the home team to forfeit the win if students rush the court. Period. NOBODY will want to be "that" dumbass that costs their team a big win. Easy peazy.
To me it always appears to be students storming the court. Couple possibilities would be for leagues to place hefty fines and the Home school to decide the fine across the price of a student ticket for the next big game. Or, part of the school fine is to not allow student ticket sales to next big game. Place the consequences onto the actual offenders. Even crazier college students would think twice if the consequences to them are unpleasant enough

Wake Forest was not prepared for it so let's end a tradition that's gone on for centuries. Seems like an over reaction. I think if it's a possibility you stage security around the opposing team and rush them off the court.

Give the fine to the academic section of the host universities in the future.
I'd rather set the money on fire. If I had it to do all over again, I'd send my kids to a trade or vocational school instead of "college". Simply a waste of time and money.

Hate to be Devil's Advocate here but what if that would've been Knecht or Aidoo caught up in that court storming and accidentally got injured.

The mood of this board would be madder than hell, it's not about oh it's Duke, it's about players safety in the future.

I know it hardly ever happens, though would you want to chance it being one of Tennessee's players?
This! Two things can be true. Do I think Flip tried to shove and trip someone and end up causing himself to roll and ankle (or just fake an injury)? Yeah, I do. That doesn’t mean court storming is perfectly fine though. It’s dangerous for players and fans, people have been trampled, incidents occur between players and drunk fans and it doesn’t happen anywhere else in sports outside of college and I just don’t buy the idea that it’s okay because it’s college. Fans/students don’t belong on the court/field.

Ideally they would have had the good sense to move slowly toward the sideline and say say 'good game' 'congratulations' while they were walking.

I say make it like a hockey rink with glass around the outer parts. Could be paid for after two court storming incidents in the SEC which is $500k
Razor wire would be cheaper..... Electrified even better.. Do like the idea of incorporating the 30 second clock with assault charges required for those identified by video replay for leaving the stands before that. Is GPS finite enough to track cell phones?

He clearly tries to trip the kid going by, misses, goes to shove him instead, fails and flails.
That's how I saw it, as well. Now the fan did appear to be barking at KF on the way by, so him falling to the ground is kind of poetic justice as he was out of his labe being on the floor to begin with. I'm less bothered by this incident because Filipowski is a punk and played more than the simple role of innocent bystander, but fans don't belong on the floor.

Honestly, it’s not what it used to be so they should look at upping the fines or more aggressive penalties. Kids are more worried about trying to get their viral video, so they are running out there like morons with phone in hand and paying zero attention to what is around them. I say if they want to violate university policy, they should be suspended or expelled if they are caught on the playing surface.

If not a student, then jail.

The fine does go to the opposition school in SEC conference games. In non-conf it goes to the SEC to fund non-athletic scholarships.

Fines are $100,000 for a first offense, $250,000 for a second offense and $500,000 for a third and subsequent offenses.

For conference games, fines are paid to the opposing institution. For nonconference games, fines are deposited into the SEC Post-Graduate Scholarship Fund.

if the question is how to stop court stormers... I like the Anton Chigurh method

Make it a million dollars to the opposing institution. Somehow it will stop.
