Cowardly perfeormance

You know, you're right. Because nothing says "ripe to be blown out" like a team who has won 25 in a row, is the #1 team in the country and the #1 overall seed, and has lost a total of 2 games by a combined total of 7 points, both while playing shorthanded. A team coached by a guy with two national titles on his resume. But you're right, they were obviously ready to be blown out.

We were far more dominant coming into this game than Florida has been all year. If we had continued to play like we had been and were in the first half it would have been a 15-20 point throttling. Instead the team folded. We weren't hit with a barrage of great basketball by some Juggernaut top ranked team. They were terrible too, they couldn't hit the broad side of a barn either. They stunk. They were trash.

Guarding bigger players makes you better pg. Scottie is not a great passer or facilitator, no one in the country gets more easy baskets for his teammates than Smith. And last but not dumbest, handles, wtf, are you serious. When you argue with an army of idiots that think Paul George is the 3rd best player in the world, scottie wilbekin is a better defender than Aaron craft and a better pg than Russ Smith. You start to see why they think that this Tennessee team should be happy to get hammered in the 2nd half by this Florida team. Its because they have no clue about basketball in general.

This will be my last response to the brilliant basketball mind that is BOP. Russ Smith is not a pg. If he were he would be on an NBA team right now. He is an undersized 2. Helluva player but he is an undersized 2. Watch both guys handle the ball under pressure and is a lot more obvious. And as dumb as I might be i never said Aaron c. Wasn't a great defender just that he didn't have the capability of guarding taller opponents like wilbikin.

Holy moly you've wandered so far off the reservation, I'm not sure you'll ever make it back.

I love it how you say "we" like you were actually on the court playing because I highly doubt you would say that you were a coward

That's funny.

If we win 5 in a row, it's cool for the Martin supporters to get on here and talk sh!t and thump their chests all day long.

However, if we lose and the anti-Martin guys question the coach or strategy, then they're all "idiots."

IMO, if you're going to dish it out, better be prepared to take it. After all...doesn't it make the forum better to have passionate fans on both sides of the issue?

You're idiots because you show up ONLY when we lose. You remind me of joevol(Chicagovol) on the other boards. Snot nosed little wimps.

I regret making some of the stupid choices that I made because I watch the game and know for a fact that I could put obser a better performance than a number of the players that I see logging major minutes around major college basketball. But that isn't really the point because the players on our team have plenty of talent, they choose not to play the game with will. They will probably regret that some day too.

Its on the players, its not on the coach, and it sure as hell isn't acceptable. For Mcrae and stokes to be calling wilbekin and Frazier the key to the game is just embarrassing. Hey idiots, you are the keys to the game. and mcrae played scared against wilbekin. He was willing to drive against 3 gators in the open floor but refused to take it at wilbekin. Weak minded team that can win a close game.

It was a complete choke job in the second half. Way to much respect for the opponent. No understanding of how to make a team pay for pressing. One time they actually got a basket off the press.

Do some of you guys even watch any college basketball besides UT?

No offense, but that press has broken teams a helluva lot better than UT this year. Kansas is a good example, we forced them into 24 turnovers. 24. UT only had 13, 15, and 16 in the 3 games.

Are you seriously listening to yourself??

"Cowardly performance" would be the same as me saying you're posting like a dumbass. It's really a personal attack.

Wait, so it's okay for me to call people dumbasses now?? Yes!!!! I will use this power with absolutely no wisdom whatsoever.

I have no problem with honest criticism of Martin, but blaming everything on him is idiotic. A coach, no matter how good or bad, can only do so much before responsibility of execution falls to the players. So if defending Martin when players fail to execute makes me a "Martin lover", I guess I'm guilty. I see it more as assigning blame where it's due, but hey, call it what you want.

Players in any sport at any level are going to have games or moments in games where they fail to execute. That does not make them cowardly, and it doesn't make them bad players. It makes them human.

All said and done, I don't think Martin has done well enough to earn a substantial raise or extension. I also don't think he's done poorly enough to deserve all the vitriol that gets directed toward him. Could UT get a better coach? If we're willing to pay, then yes, we could, but I don't expect the UTAD to replace Martin after making the tourney. Next year may or may not bring about a different outcome. His spotty coaching is why I think Hart won't cave to any long term extension, and I don't foresee any other teams trying to lure him away. If Hart is any kind of competent, we should be able to keep any contract reasonable.

The one thing that angers me is the ability of "fans" to take away from what should be a happy time for the team they supposedly love. Supporting the team does not have to be synonymous with supporting Martin. Best thing for the team right now is for the fanbase to direct their energy to supporting them and letting the coach debate die until after the season. When our last game is played, please feel free to spout your drivel, but for now, just let it go. Be a UT fan and support this team.

Well, the original post said it was on the players, not the coach; so why folks are even talking about the coach escapes me.

But I definitely disagree because there was no cowardice, lack of heart, or lack of hustle in the first place.

There was no shortcoming on the part of the coach or the players... it is possible to have a sound game plan, play hard, and still lose.

Asinine. You had a great 5 game run but UF had 2 or 3 of those this season. This trash team held you to under 50 points and won despite nothing from Finnley-Smith and Frasier 7 pts. IF either play like last 6 games, UT gets beat by 15. Kids played with #1 team until final min of game so give them and Zo some credit.

Some people make a living out of being an idiot troll. Anyway, we smashed UF in the mouth and we're clearly shaken up in the first half. Second half wasn't our greatest of the year but it was still a 2 possession game with a minute to go. Good grief!

Many on this board would show video highlights of each game with us missing shots and committing turnovers. They'd be thrilled with Bert Bertlecamp chiming in with "losers" and "fire Cuonzo" instead of "money!"

Yeah, he's butthurt for sure.

To be fair, the way UK is playing they can beat us tomorrow. Ditto for Louisville if we play them in the Big Dance.

Hell, a UK loss tomorrow might be a good thing.

But it's pure idiocy to suggest that the #1 team in the country "isn't all that good", or UF "won't make it past the Sweet 16" before the brackets are announced.

Only word to describe that opinion is just "dumb". Anyone with eyes can see Gators are the best team in the country.
