Did this talent play on D?? U do remember that that inept coach put together some of the best offensive #s in UT history right?? I love it when a bunch of cool ecoaches call actual coaches they couldn't hold a candle to when it comes to actual CFB things like inept. Must make people like u, who feel like they need to constantly bash the guy, feel so much better about a sad life.

I'm surprised no one has blamed Dooley for kicking Rogers off the team at the start of fall camp, and called him an idiot for it. Blaming him for not being able to have a better O because he kicked him off the team. Yadda yadda...

Some of these are Dooley's guys he brought in. So calling the guy inept then turning around and praising players he brought is pretty foolish.

It's amazing how it worked out. If we had a competent D, we might have won 9-10 games and Dooley would have got a contract extension. Then we would have gone 3-9 this year and be sitting around 50th in the recruiting rankings.

There is no way u could say we would have gone 3-9 this year. Keeping the coaching continuity alone on the O and the D having 1 year under its belt, and 1 more offseason could have just as easily given us 7-8 wins this year. Which would have warmed his seat that had been hot for a long time. Which would have helped in recruiting. Yes the guy may have had some recruiting issues but the hot seat he was on was hurting him more than anything. Don't understand why people can't understand that all the Gruden talk hurt recruiting therefore UT. As if these kids don't hear rumors of the guy coming to visit may be fired. And no I'm not saying he would have the type of class as CBJ is having right now. Just that he would have had better chances.

Yes I know I'm going to be bashed for being a Dooley lover yadda ydda yadda but my scenario is just as feasible as urs.

LOL.... I guess that is why the genius has the receivers job with the Cowboys. If he has it, he did not let on while he was at UT. With the talent he had on O, all he had to do was get the hell out of their way.

Last years Offense with this years Defense and staff...bet we would have gone 8-4
 This years defense was as bad as last year while offensive staff was so much better last year it's not even close.

Yep. If Dooley didn't hire sal and switch to a 3-4 he would probably still be here today.

If Fulmer had not hired Clawson as the offensive co ordinator, he might have coached a few more seasons and been able to beat the General's win total.....

If, could have, should have, maybe, was supposed to,

All I have to say is if you have that much talent on offense, you have to figure out a way to win more than 5 games a year. You have to take advantage of that kind of talent. I dont see how anyone can argue otherwise. We just wasted talent.

I hope you are kidding. This year's defense was much better. And if you are trying to compare coaches with the different rosters, I can't help you. I would have loved to see Hunter and CP coached by Jones.

This is turning into a great day for former vols. besides the receivers, Peyton is doing what he always does, Malik Jackson already has a sack and to top it off which ever colquitt plays for the broncos just pinned the titans on there 3 yard line. Anyone know what witten or berry has done.

Whitten plays on MNF. Berry had a sack and forced fumble.

All 3 with over 100 yards. All 3 are rookies but they led their teams in yards and TDs today.

Da'Rick had his first career NFL start today.

Cordarelle Patterson today vs. Baltimore
5 rec, 141 yards (28.2 avg), 1 TD, 79 Long

Justin Hunter today vs Denver
4 rec, 114 yards (28.5 avg), 1 TD, 57 Long

I would have loved to see Hunter and CP coached by Jones.

Seems like those guys enjoyed playing in the pro style offense - somewhat doubtful they would be interested in wasting their talent playing in bearcat spread offense where the objective seems to be to try to gain more yards moving sideways than up the field.

No matter how bad our teams may be, we still crank out NFL talent.

Thats because we always played pro style and were known for it. Not sure what will happen going forward after move to spread - look at UF under Meyer and Oregon under Kelly - how many star QB's and WR's coming out of those systems doing great in NFL?

saying that cp, hunter and rivera wouldn't have thrived in butch's system might be the dumbest thing said, ever...
