Scream on folks who are going. I will be at home or local establishment cheering on.

Also, Fulmer ready to recognize and vocalizing need to win back Neyland. Stanley is work horse and will get nothing but better during season.

"Lately, home hasn't been so sweet for the Vols. They've lost six consecutive games at home to top-10 teams. Their most recent home win over a top-10 opponent came against Georgia in 1999."

hmmmmmmmm

I would like to see some signs around Neyland Stadium saying like BEWARE NOISE AREA, THERE IS NO RESTRICTION ON NOISE, lets be creative. To let the crowd know. Also I like the changes in getting students closer to the field.

I plan on being loud, just like every game I've ever been to. If we want a "change" in the home atmosphere, it's not that difficult. JUST STAND UP AND SCREAM.

I raised a point about the "Noise Rule" in an earlier thread. Do you guys really think that Vol fans were holding back before because of the rule? I doubt it. Vol fans will be as rabid, crazy, and loud as usual....I hope :) . I don't think that lifting the rule will change much in Neyland...unless we start bring a ton of "artificial" noise makers with us...which honestly I could do without. Let's stick to the ol' vocal chords and run the Bears out of k-ville! :yahoo:

I absolutely love going to games at Neyland, however, I do not feel that it is a loud stadium...especially for 106,000 fans. We, Tennessee Fans, always receive the compliment of gracious hosts from visiting fans, and creating a very welcome and friendly environment for visiting friends. I feel that while playing nice, we tend not to get as heated and as loud as 106,000 people should be able to get.

I also want a loud crowd. Everyone needs to stand up and yell, even the old cenile cranks(listen up if your reading this). And don't tell me to sit down and be quiet just because you are too lazy to stand up to see.

Just a thought, Im wondering if the noise level in Neyland in the last seasons are from the way the offense has been run. Seems we've had a big angle on check offs and the QB's call for quiet....Im wonderin if most fans just don't want to hurt our side with the noise and don't know when to get loud.

we are an on campus stadium we used to be able to sneek in minnie
bottles but since 911 security has tightend up quite a bit. that + the dui laws in tennessee i used to always sneek in a few minnies. ill
still be loud but a little nip always helped.

Statman, even though not politically correct, you may have hit on something. Does anyone know the average age of our fans? I'm usually surrounded with octagenerians incapable of making a sound above a whisper except to grumble about how bad "Johnny" was done.

I"m no spring chicken myself having graduated in the 70's but still can go over 110 decibels. It just seems when I go to Bama or Auburn to see a game that their fans seem louder and younger.

So it's important that the students and youner fans make as much noise aa=s possible.

Mostly what i have saw is goody goodys who go just to show off their short skirts. If you aint there to cheer on the greatest football team on earth, then stay home. I hate ppl who go there just to go and sit there with their hands under thier butts trying to be "cool". Get a life. Raise some hell guys

The rule was essentially that if the ref determined it was too loud to hear on the field when the visitors were on offense, a time out could be charged to the home team. It was entirely a judgement call and appeared to be rarely enforced.

I remember a rule against artificial noisemakers and a ban on bands playing while the opposing team approaches the line of scrimmage on offense, but I have never heard of that rule. So, it must very well have been rarely enforced. Thanks.

Sorry..I can see why that was confusing. What I was attempting to say was that I am a bit concerned that what prevented the use of artificial noise makers may have been this rule. My statement was that I hope that wasn't the case...and that artificial noise makers would now be aloud...ok bad pun...allowed. I am all for as much vocal chord noise as we can raise...but leave the cowbells at home, IMO.

:search: The middle of that last post still sounded ambiguous. :eek:lol: But, you made your point at the end. I agree. We don't need anything artificial.
