craigslist ticket scam

Vols,
I wanted to share this with you, so you won't make the same mistake I did. Yeah, I was an idiot and got scammed on craigslist Vandy tickets. I even talked to the 'scammer' on the phone as he promised to transfer the tickets, then proceeded to ghost me. Transaction through Venmo Request (friends and family mode, doh), so goodbye money.

I guess I was too trusting. Anyway I'm going to be a jerk back to this person and post his phone number here for reference so others can search this number for scams in future. I'm also going to post the persons venmo acct. If you feel compelled to reach out to this person and give them the Vol spirit, I wouldn't object.

Yeah that sucks but honestly that’s kind of on you for sending them the money. They have 0 friends on Venmo. Huge red flag. Hopefully you can contact your bank and tell them you were scammed and maybe they can do something.

Yeah, I was stupid. Kinda deserved it I guess.

I’m wondering if this is the same guy that scammed me out of $500 two years ago for SEC Baseball Tournament Tickets. It’s the same area code (423), but a different phone number. His name is Terry Williams and at the time he was living in Jasper, TN. I have an outstanding arrest warrant for him. Sorry for your loss.

FYI brother, looks to be a VOIP number (Google, TextNow, etc).

Did you happen to get an email address?

I "have heard" from undesirable elements that there are ways you can have their cell phone inundated with gay porn-thousands of emails and texts per day. Not that I would ever do such a thing .

That sucks! That is one reason I stopped posting tix on Craigslist. Too many scammers! I will only post my tix on this site or sell them day of game.

There is a ticket forum here on Volnation that I have used a lot that is safe and reasonable. I recommend going there in the future. Have you contacted Venmo? They have options when you're scammed. Always research a Venmo customer's past history.

Unfortunately all emails through craigslist. He did text me the Images of the tickets with the seat numbers and everything (electronic version) and venue. I didn't want to share the seat numbers here since I assume anyone sitting in the seats tonight would be innocent.

I even tried calling the Vandy ticket office and seeing if the phone number or name was the same.

I'll check with them. I assumed I was SOL from that perspective.

You're right. Honestly, I had a bunch of stuff going on at the time and just approved it. I've never been scammed or had an issue, so I didnt think about it too much. Especially since he sent me an image of the tix. Poor vetting.

I always give them the local FBI number if my spidey sense is up.
I have sold and purchased quite a few things of CL.
Vehicles included.

I feel for you man. I hate fu***** thieves. People can be really sh****. Just kick back some beers tonight and watch the game from your warm house. That loser will get what’s coming to him eventually.
