I don’t think they actually expect to get anywhere with the conspiracy theories. Too many people just don’t want to acknowledge the loss because they had gotten so use to their team beating us. It’s a sort of denial. In their mind Tennessee can’t be better than Alabama in a football game.
It doesn’t help when the coach is sort of accepting that we beat them, but then implying that they beat themselves, and later sending officiating decisions that he didn’t like to the conference. It’s irresponsible.
Of course all Alabama fans are upset, but I don’t think it’s their natural tendency to believe crazy conspiracies. When Saban is blaming everyone else, and implying officiating may have affected the result though, it probably becomes easier for some of them to accept than that they were the worse team that game.
They have a huge number of fans, many of whom became fans after Saban took over and turned them around. Losing to us is rare for them to experience, and some have never experienced it at all.
We know what that feels like, but even our worst coaches had the good manners to accept that we lost and not encourage the loonies (yes, we have some too). Not a good look for Saban.
