Seeing that this season is completely shot (I would rather UT not go bowling than end up in Shreveport,) I would say it is time to start looking to 2006. Unfortunately, our defense will be a skeleton of itself next year with most of our front 7 moving on to a better place, on top of losing J Allen. Our offense will have to put up a lot of points next year in order to compete in the SEC East. So, with Arian Foster and Corey Anderson in the backfield (on paper could be a 1,500 yd duo,) does the coaching staff throw in the highly touted Crompton in place of Ainge?

I know who I want, but if Ainge out performs him, then I think Ainge should. They need to pick the best player and stick with him. If he sucks after a couple of games, then name a new starter. But Ican't stand to go through this again.

If he is better, then yes. But I think the team will become more of a team with the seniors leaving. This will help Ainge and Crompton whoever starts.

There is no way of knowing until Crompton shows what he can do (He has not taken a single snap yet) and until Ainge has a chance to progress under a new OC. Crompton was a great pickup and is talented but there is no way to determine whether or not he will be a good Qb on the college level.

Crompton's head is not screwed up. Crompton will start in 06, Ainge could be gone by the first of the year.Don't be suprised.

haven't heard that, but that would be reason to be optomistic. it would give us another option.

I think it's an easy decision, Ainge has 3 games to prove he can light up the scoreboard. IF he doesn't I think Crompton should be named the starter going into spring practice. Ainge has had his chances.....if he can not put at least 30 on all 3 of our last opponets this year...I say it's Crompton's show in 2006.

rumor has it that fulmer is now after Mitch Mustain #2 QB recruit in the nation.

I thought Mustain committed to Arkansas a long time ago . . . It'd be nice if he pulled a Chris Simms and changed his mind, though.

making a starter based on past performance and a non-existant college career?

tell me where you are employed so i can put in my resume without having to work for a job.

i think the kids have to earn their starting job just like the rest of us. it's ainge's to lose and crompton's to prove.

I wonder if Houston Nutt's uncertain job status is a factor.

i just read on another board (rumors) that fulmer has been contacting mustain on a regular basis. nothing confirmed, but somebody somewhere is saying that its happening. mitch keeps everything pretty close to his vest so its really hard to confirm, but the rumour is out there.

i just want a set starter.

usc had a qb controversey right after carson palmer left, and it was a really tough decision i have heard and lienart beat out kassel by a hair.

they could have flipflopped again and again but they stuck wiht lineart and were successful. i just hope we stick with the man we choose unless he really struggles.

Have you been in a coma for the last 11 years?

sonofajohn......

What do you have against Shreveport? Is it that the Independence Bowl is rated so low, or do you not like the city in general? Just curious.

He should get to compete just like Ainge did his freshman year. I just hope we have a solid qb going in the first game next year and NOT be looking over his shoulder

first of all, our d is coached by a wonderful coach and we have all americans backing up all americans. so the d will be fine.

second, mustain has committed to arkansas, and we were not even on his list. mustain

third, if crompton doesnt take over then we may be screwed.

It doesn't matter, we have an incompetent head coach and staff that is incapable of developing disciplined football players.
