You are correct. Schiano was the defensive coordinator. He left for Rutgers shortly before Davis bailed for the NFL. Had Schiano still been on the staff, he would have had a good chance of getting the job instead of Ears.

Didn't realize that Schiano was at The U previously. That makes it make a lot more sense for him to take the job.
