Croom moved inside

than Martin. I believe Martin played WR, for the most part if not entirely at UT, and he didn't catch a lot of balls. He was obviously more suited for TE, given his size--which is what he became in the NFL, and I think he actually was more productive in the NFL than he was at UT. .

You spell that F-U-L-M-E-R.

Croom reminds me of sharp the tightend .see there was Shannon sharp and another sharp one played wide receiver the other played TE.

Sterling sharper is the older brother. He was wr with the packers. First ballot hall of famer until a neck injury forced early retirement. Shannon is younger brother and played tight end for the broncos and ravens. Hall of famer. One of the best at his position. Can't stand to listen to his football insight. You can catch him in Sundays on cbs before games and at halftime

I think he could be more in the category of Jimmy Graham at 6'6-7" and 260lbs. Obviously Croom will need to put on some weight to play more of a TE role, but not too much in a pass heavy offense. Graham is huge and strong, but still very athletic. He is a matchup nightmare for opposing teams. Put a corner on him, and you have back shoulder, high throws all day. Put an LB on him and he needs about 2 seconds to get separation. Croom could be unstoppable in this role against college kids! It just comes down to his work ethic and hands.

I also remember David Martin getting ran down from behind against Neb. in what looked like an easy TD.

LOL...we got our azzes beat by Nebraska that night just like we did against them two years earlier. I remember the play too. It wasn't a game changer or anything like that. Our azzes were beat regardless

David Martin was also the intended WR on Tee Martin's only incompletion at USCjr. It was a hard pass, but it was catchable. I was there, and it was a clinic.

Martin turned out ok. He played in the league for several years.

No. You spell it M-A-R-T-I-N. Fulmer wanted him at TE but Martin was convinced he was a WR and didn't want to move.

But once the NFL basically said you're TE or you're an ex-football player, he suddenly realized that he was a TE.

He isnt too big to play WR

Calvin Johnson
Vincent Jackson
Marques* Colston

In fact, this discussion came up about who made more money in the NFL- WR's or CB's. Both have some well-paid players. It all depends on your size. Other than Santonio Holmes, Desean Jackson, Percy Harvin, and Mike Wallace, most of the top 10 highest paid WR's (and other well=paid) in the NFL are big. Jackson and Harvin are also return specialists. C. Johnson, A. Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Vincent Jackson, Brandon Marshall, Sydney Rice, Dwyane Bowe, Demaryius Thomas, AJ Green, Julio Jones are all over 6'2. Even A. Boldin, Roddy White, and Dez Bryant are physical.

So, if you can play both ways out of high school and under 6 feet, it appears you have a better chance at making money as a CB.

A player does not tell a competent coach where he will and won't play. If he wants a release from his scholarship then you give it to him.

This was a major, major part of Fulmer's eventual fall- no discipline, no respect for his authority.

This is the kind of thing that devastates team morale.
