Croom

I was starting to worry that Croom would never get the recognition he deserves from the ungrateful horde of peons known as volnation. Thank you OP for this long-awaited thread.

What exactly does he deserve recognition for? He hasn't really done anything of significance yet. That said, he certainly has the tools to be great, and I certainly hope he can find a way to become great, but as of now......he is just a really big wide receiver.

May God have mercy on this fool who dares question the supremacy of one Jason Croom.

Supremacy? LOL.....I agree with the OP and think he will do really well for himself this year and be a big part of our offense. However.......thus far......he hasn't really done anything that I can remember aside from the TD catch vs Oregon and catching what should have been a Dobbs interception vs Kentucky for a TD.I'm sure he made a few more plays other than those but those two are the only ones that I can recall. So basically, all I am saying is based on his body of work thus far, I think claiming he "deserves" some kind of special recognition is a bit premature.

Agreed. Part of the reason our fan base likes Croom so much is because his mom comes on here and posts. Which I'll agree is pretty cool but....Hes done absolutely nothing thus far in his career. In fairness a lot kids don't contribute a lot their first couple of years. But it's time for Croom to step up. Until then we should stop with all the Croom man crushing. North in one season has accomplished significantly more than Croom in his career.

I like Croom as a depth player. Barring horrendous injury, I can't see him starting until maybe his senior year. He's developing and will certainly help us but I don't think he's gonna be a dynamic playmaker we count on week in and out.

Look, I'm a big Jason Croom fan and I think he's about to blow up. Seems like he's putting it all together. Incredible physical specimen who, with the talent he possesses could be absolutely unstoppable with the right focus and intensity.

However, what recognition does he "deserve" at this point? Which VNers on here are ungrateful? I see most posts regarding Jason as nothing but positive, hopeful and supportive of the kid. How about we let him earn whatever recognition that's coming to him?

I see my post has generated some questioning replies so I'll clarify: my posts in this thread were sarcastic. This has to be the 12th thread about Croom and while I do feel as if he has some potential and wish him the best, it's clear he is overvalued because his mother posts here.

You really should read before posting. North and Croom have had the same amount of playing time at UT. Croom was a redshirt freshman last year, having been injured for his actual freshman year. So saying that North did more in his one year than Croom in his career is equivalent to saying that North had a better year. So what? North had a better freshman year than most blue chip WRs could dream of. That's a high bar to fall short of.

I hate repeating myself this many times, but Croom was our third leading receiving last year. He had solid stats despite having garbage QB production.

Croom hasn't shown himself to be a stud yet. Nor is he a finished product. He has, though, shown some promise, and he has incredible size and great athleticism for his build. There is a lot of reason to expect him to improve. And he is a great guy who loves the Vols. If you can't see why fans love him, then you have issues.

Croom is a good player with the potential to be a very good - great one. But thinking that doesn't commit us to saying that he was a heisman trophy winner last year, or that he will be one this year either.

r u really using his mother as the escape for your comments? You have the right as every other poster to feel how you feel, but don't use mama to rattle feathers.

had this been a year or two ago... I probably would have flipped out you.
