Crowd Lets Specter Have it over Health care

He was not booed because of health care. The crowd was taking him to task over,by their questions, him not reading and fully understanding the bill. after he stated that the bill was fully read and he understood it full only then would he vote on it. At which point he was cheered.

Well, the Senate bill hasn't been written (according to Sebelius) so how could he read and understand it?

Also, notice he was booed because he said it needed to be done in a hurry.

briefed on the possibility? how many briefings are there upon which no action can reasonably be taken?

Dereliction of Duty sounds like a very nice hatchet piece.

Again,..he was briefed many times that Bin Laden could be killed, and ordered them to stand down, and allowed him to escape. That could've been taken, instead he allowed him to live which cost thousands of lives.

I'm certain that we like the idea of prudence on the part of the ultimate decision maker when we're discussing killing private citizens, no?

Everyone knows when there's war, innocent people get killed. When the POTUS makes the decision, he is supposed to put personal feelings aside, and do it for the people and our national security.

Clinton was a true believer until his sway over congress went to 0, or less.

clinton ruled through the opinion polls far more than any president in my lifetime. obama might pretend he is going right, but i don't see him backing off on tax increases and his social programs.

whatever makes you feel better about this disaster of a bill.

Probably in the same manner that these type of threads do it for you.

ehh...I say boo him anyway, just for being in Congress.

Hard to argue with this.

"When" it has been fully read and understood.

It does need to be done in a hurry.

i have no doubt bush would have taken bin laden out in the same situation and that obama would not take him out in the same situation.

absolutely false. If it's going to be done it needs to be done right. Those idiots in Congress do not need to be in a hurry. 1000 pages of reading will hopefully take them until 2010 to finish

He was booed on what you said and the fact that he said they had to work "quickly"...which if you are able to translate, means "I don't have time to read it and understand but it needs to be passed".

But it's still pretty naive to say he wasn't booed because of healthcare.

WHY does it need to done in a hurry? The only reason I can think of why someone wouldn't want the full bill explained, debated, etc. is they know it would be unpopular if more of the fine print of the bill came out. Or it's known pretty soon they aren't going to have the votes.

To say something this big needs to be done a hurry is quire idiotic.

Please give us the reasons anything of this magnitude should be done quickly without going through all the extreme critique and vetting something of this magnitude deserves.

You could apply this to about any legislation ever written on the hill. The pure idiocy remark can also be applied to the heath care crisis that Americans find them selves in today. "Hurry up" reach the inevitable compromise. All the big players including big business are in on this so any one hoping for a complete failure could be consider to be totally out of touch with reality.

Are you trying to say we should hurry up and pass an amazingly expensive, crappy bill before big business makes it even crappier?

That doesn't make much sense does it?

Please provide a cogent argument for why this must be rushed. Please avoid the political argument of if it isn't done this Fall, it won't be done crap.

We are talking about 1/6th at least of our economy - it is irresponsible to rush through a bill.

The number thrown out by the Obama administration is that there are 47 million uninsured.

In 1993 when HilaryCare was being proposed, the number then was 48 million.

So given the time and population increases, we're actually doing better 16 years later. Doesn't sound like anything needs to be "hurried up" because this is a made up problem.

And it's news to me that "big business" is in on this; unless you're counting all the "big business" that the government now runs (banking, automotive), and the drug industry which obviously has financial reasons to push this that has NOTHING to do with helping anyone.
