Cry Me a River

On another thread, someone posted that, according to Rob Lewis, we could lose 1 or 2 more coaches, including Ed O. Does anyone know if there is any real truth to this or if this is just more speculation? I know there was a lot of speculation in early Dec. But thought that was all dead... I can't imagine Ed O. Leaving for anything less than a head coach job. Anyone have any inside info?

I would say that is rumors meant to neutralize our recruiting prowess......bunch of BS

I'm really sick of reading all these "the sky is falling" posts, when guys who de-committed were all predicted to do so weeks or months beforehand..... Furthermore, only 75 points on Rivals separates the 11-6 positions.......

So, if we land a 3 star recruit, we would probably be ranked 6th..... Only 2 teams ranked ahead of us have the same number of recruits or less....... Penn State has 19, and USC has 14........

So, as long as we close like we KNOW that we will, then we should have a top 3 class IMO........Remember, there is a cap on total recruits, and just bc/ one team gets to that cap first, doesn't give them any extra points.....This is not a race, it's about quality........USC, once again, has the highest quality players, and if they fill up the numbers, will easily have the #1 class.......

All you bandwagon recruiting-followers, please get off the Lane-Train now, it's not too late!!!!

Totally agree. The only thing I would add is a recruite is only a recruite when they show up on campus and put on the orange and white......then they are a VOL!

If we can sign 30, then I retract my 8 to 12 prediction and say somewhere around 5 (more like 4 to 7). The amount was something not considered previously, but this makes total sense. With the 11 left to fill, just assuming half are 4 or 5 stars and other guys (current commits such as Taylor) get upgraded we should approach top 5. Good post tabrams. Thanks for info, LV.

There are many things to consider before making brash predictions......

I'm not sure we will sign 30. We may just sign 27 who can qualify for sure...

true......but we may sign & place 1 or 2 guys, depending on things.....but yeah I agree that this staff is much more concerned with getting guys who are are better student-athletes, in order to run a tighter ship.......

This is true and on that note we have done/are doing the following:

Priorities:

1. QB - We have one stud with the potential to be a future star and another quality backup

2. OL - We currently have 2 borderline 4*'s and 1 other 4* and we will in all likelihood land three more 4*'s...unless of course Green gets a bump to a 5* which is a real possibility according to LV

3. DL - Currently we have two 4* DT's with a real possibiity at another (Quarles)...we aso have three 4* DE's committed with a real shot at getting one of two other 4*'s (Lemonier or Stripling)

4. Speed at the skill positions - We currently have five 4*'s commited (Ambles, Thompkins, Meline, Jones, Milton)...with countless others still on our radar and the distinct possibility that Ambles will get a fifth star if he stands out this week

5. LB - We have a 3* who is expepcted to decommit (Williams)...but we have another 3* who was just voted defensive MVP at the UA game and will all but certainly be bumped to a 4*... we also have a legit shot at 3 other 4*'s (Nelson, Jones, Shirley)...

I know stars aren't the end-all, be-all of football success...but this thread is about people freaking out because of the recent recruiting defections and how they've effected our ranking....

I personally don't get how anyone can freak out with what we have lined up and how effectively we are addressing the priorities listed above
:eek:k:very good stuff, plus Dorsey is going to visit tn. we will get Dorsey. Fla has recruited 5 db'. theres going to be some disappointed players at fla who will not get to play much.:peace2:

If we get Dixon, Dorsey, and Robey, that would be great......

Good post. We have a lot of new posters that haven't followed the ups and downs of recruiting. We have cut a lot of dead weight in our class like Jose Jose and Ken Adams and held on to the underrated quality players. The guys that we do have committed are either moving up in rating or staying at the same level. We still have some guys like Palardy that aren't ranked that highly currently but should move up likely.
