Franklin is the best known. Very good but you need to be patient.

Black's near campus, Terry Black's is good too. Interesting story about that family.

Blaines catered last game I was down there and it was good. It's less acclaimed than the others.

Lockhart, which is 30 minutes south of Austin, has a really strong BBQ scene too.


I am sure there are others. I only go to Austin a couple of times a year.

I regret not getting more BBQ while I lived in Austin. Between bartending, getting my MBA, and dating a guy that did not like BBQ, I did not enjoy the culinary scene as much as I should have.

I did not have the best judgment from 15-22. He only liked lean meat. His loss.

I am partial to pork BBQ. I do love good brisket but it is hard to find really good brisket outside of Texas.
