Culture change in LV basketball program

What I don't understand about Holly's reasoning is the game was tied for about the first 5 minutes with Moore in the game. She pulls her out and then Texas goes on a run. I think it is that Holly has a comfort level with her old players, Mass, Burdick, Carter, Jones, and she's not going to play anyone else any meaningful minutes. I'll bet her answer to this will not be to develop the freshmen or Moore but to sit them more.

As a coach you think cos those players have been with you the longest, they'll have your back. And that's fine, a lot of coaches lean on their veterans, but if they are not getting the job the done, the loyalty is not to the players (assistant coach), but to the program (head coach).

Possibly the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Diggins is the Halle Berry of sports. You need to put the drink down.

Sorry, diggins doesn't do it for me..and Halle berry?? Lol. Come on man, you can do better than that..now back to jasmine lister..

The one beside graves is jasmine Phillips right?? I would have guessed tucker lol

Threw me for a complete loop. I had forgotten about Jasmine Phillips but knew she looked too heavy for a ball player. (Unless you're 6' 6" and built like a concrete block...seen some of those!). He deserves two quarters :)

Kelly Cain virtually never played well against the better teams, especially if said team had a player almost as big as her.

Cain always complained about playing with knee pain. "Retired" from basketball and quit the team because of her supposed concern about her health.

Then Cain went back to playing basketball again.

I will take Russell over Cain, and Russell was a highly over-rated player.

Ah, progress. We have gone from her being a "Huge Bust" to not playing well against better teams. Now, did the SEC have any better teams? I think it might have. And Cain had big games against LSU, Georgia, Vandy and others, as well as Rutgers, Stanford etc. Now, she never matched up well against Griner, that is a fact but that can be said of many other post players of that era.

As for the "knee pain," you do realize that she had major reconstructive surgery in her Freshman year? So, those complaints might have been legit. As a LV, she had a history of concussions, back injuries and chronic knee problems so maybe her health concerns were not just "supposed. And she went to Europe had the same experimental treatment (PRP) that players like Kobe Bryant have used to combat chronic knee problems.

Glory is also dating Britney Griner. So I don't think she counts.

Uhhhh the majority of players in that pic you posted are gay. So try again.

Stupid thread. Some of our biggest competitiors liked to look good. You can be an actual real woman and like to get dressed up and look good and be a bulldog on the court.

Agreed. Actually, I am trying to parse the reasoning of the original poster. It seems to be a crime of epic proportion for a straight woman player to dressed up but no big deal for a lesbian player. So if you are correct about the orientations of the players in the pic, I guess the poster is going to be totally cool with their looking good. Like you said, a stupid thread.......

The majority? How would you know?

Bizarre thread.

First OP bashes players for wanting to look good ("good" as defined by men, I might add), then dismisses Glory because she's with a woman and so apparently doesn't count, and then participates in a multi post debate about hot-looking players, after decrying looking hot as an indicator of lack of competitiveness.

Maybe players got tired of being laughed at and dismissed by so many guys because they're perceived as gay and therefore maybe not interested in what guys think? Or not, I dunno.

But it sure is an interesting commentary on the expectations placed on women these days. What the hell do you want, anyway?

No, that's very easy to understand. I want that too. I'm just curious about the continuing comments about LV players' appearances.

There isn't anything similar about the guys except for (of all things) Dobbs's eyebrows. It doesn't seem to matter how guys look; they're just praised or criticized according to their performances on the field or court. Which is as it should be, no?

Dress and sexual preferences has little to do with ability and leadership. This team lacks leadership and direction. I don't care about their personal lives as long as they play like the five stars they are suppose to be. It is now obvious that Meighan was not a big time star she failed to make the roster of a bad WNBA team. The question is are we recruiting 1 stars parading like 5 stars or are the players the product of poor coaching and bad leadership?

Poor coaching and bad leadership. Simmons never had any direction here.

Simmon got direction in her very first game....Go out, shoot, and bail the rest of the team out. Unfortunately, she got too caught up in that role to the point that she frequently disrupted the offense before it had a chance to work, and she never got any coaching to the contrary.

do you realize just how many great college players never make a WNBA team? Simmons is overseas playing @ present I think.
