There's an investigation into whether he cooked the books on nursing home deaths to help with his $5 million book deal. That would be a huge no-no. That whole book deal was already icky to begin with.

He didn't have enough support from his Dem colleagues in the NY State Legislature, so unless he wanted to hang on until a sure impeachment this is his only choice. It is his Richard Nixon moment. He's too politically toxic even for his fellow partisans to be seen supporting him.

I am surprised as well - but he did not resign over the allegations of being overly affectionate. It was the book deal that got him IMO.

Rowan Farrow also nailed him on calling Valerie Jarrett to halt an investigation...that's what they are trying to get Trump on so he had to go or they would have to be mum on Orange Man

Very few people read those books. Book deals are just a legal way to launder and funnel money.
