My worst fear. It will happen. The whole thing. I think Martin is going to shop himself around and we will go cheap. Pearl will land elsewhere. We drift further into mediocrity.

Mostly truth. I do think some of the more outspoken not-Martin guys would be happy if we hired a solid guy, but there is definitely a core group of posters here that would flip their lids if Martin isn't here next year and neither is Pearl, and most likely would never shut up about it.

Then I suggest you stop following UT basketball or go root for Pearl's team if you honestly think this will happen.

Of course it would but the only reason for that is the past 3 years have not been up to expectation and now Pearl is available. Without the disappointment with Martin, no one would be screaming for Pearl. With disappointment in Martin and Pearl's impending availability people want Pearl back because hiring Pearl would make sense. It's really not that difficult unless you think Pearl isn't an elite coach who loves Tennessee and has proven he can perform here. Every fanbase in the SEC minus Florida and Kentucky wants Pearl as their coach and for good reason.

However, without Martin's coaching and this year in particular being extremely frustrating it never would've gotten to that point.

While your theory is correct, we haven't come a long, positive way since Martin's first season.

I watched every game this year that I could. I don't live close to Knoxville so it's hard for me to get to a game. I chose to not go to one because of financial reasons and I felt the product did not merit my money. I also said, that if the product improved then I would attend a game next year. Well, the product improved so we are going to a game next season.

Having said all of that, am I a true fan?

Something I've realized over the last couple months, there's a very small % of Tennessee fans that 1. Have ever heard of volnation.com 2. Share the beliefs many on here do 3. Are this "die hard" about Tennessee athletics.

All we have heard on volnation is how games should be boycotted, BBB etc. Yet if you were at any of the last couple games, you'd have no idea many fans on this site wanted a different coach, that some wanted a former coach, or that the current coach had any pressure on him whatsoever.

Point being...he goes on and makes the sweet 16 this year, and the casual basketball fans that make up the majority of attendance 1. Won't have read the tweet 2. Won't have read this thread 3. Will have no idea any of this went down.

If you honestly think it will happen, then I fail to see why you would bother sticking around. Sounds like you're convinced our basketball program is going to the bottom of the SEC.
