Cuonzo Martin is close to...

I couldn't be more happier that we landed stokes; I think we are getting ahead of ourselves on the pipeline to memphis, don't forget that one of the main reasons we got him was bc he couldn't play in ky or Memphis this year. If ccm develops him, I hope this will be true.

As far as credit goes I def think we should give it to both pearl and ccm their fair share. If it wasn't for pearl he may have not ever thought about ut, and if not for ccm he may have been on his way to Florida

I just love how prior to Stokes' commitment half of VN was throwing Cuonzo under the other side of the bus (opposite side of Dooley) before he has implemented his system and gotten his own recruits..so many are quick to pass rash judgement on others' accomplishments, or lack thereof, when they themselves have most likely accomplished nothing....that is all, GO VOLS

I think we owe a debt of gratitude to Coach Pearl and his staff for opening the Memphis pipeline and should congratulate Coach Martin for closing the deal with Stokes. Hopefully, Cuonzo will be able to keep the pipeline open.

Pearl did no such thing. Sorry.

How can a blue puppet ever be taken "seriously.":eek:lol:

1. Don't diss the cookie monster.

2. Thank you for your contribution to the thread. What do you think of UT basketball recruiting right now?

If Memphis keeps struggling then you will see players leave their like there is plague. Pastner is having a year that Bruce Pearl had last year with WTF loses. Murray State is an example and almost losing to Lipscomb. I will tell you this Austin Nichols and Johnathan Williams will not play under him at this present moment they will want to stay away from that circus. I think Nichols is Tennessee's to lose and Williams' is just a hard read as of right now.

If we can recruit Memphis and we can already recruit Chicago.... OMG.

I'm not sure we can say we can recruit chicago just yet but its a good point. Chicago might be the most talented basketball city in the country. The place is a gold mine.

One recruit = pipeline?

As long as I can remember, Memphis has been overrated for UT recruiting potential. Have we ever had more than one impact player (in any sport) from there at any time?

Yes.

Too much overreacting to every twist and turn in this place.

Play tough in Maui = we might have an NCAA tournament team!!

Lose to the Governors = this is the worst team evar!!!

Pick up one recruit = we've got a pipeline to Memphis!!

It's a long slog. Things are usually not as good or as bad as the latest headline suggests.

We got a big time recruit that Memphis wanted. We are in on three big time recruits from Memphis, two have connections to Jarnell. One being very good friends with him and AAU teammates.

Not too mention with the struggles of Memphis, he's getting there. If he gets a couple next year, then he establishes the pipeline. At one point, Pearl couldn't even get in to Memphis. Now Martin is basically a contender for all the big prospects.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Last time I checked Austin Peay tops the list of WTF losses.

I'll believe we have a pipeline in Memphis when I see it. They said the same thing when we signed Tony Harris.

Zo deserves much of the credit for getting in there and signing Stokes. Pearl tried at a couple points to recruit guys out of there.

Look at his final 5 teams. They look pretty big time to me.

CM's signature recruit, he has opened up the pipeline with Stokes to the most important recruiting are for UT. GO ZO!

One player isn't a pipeline. Just because a few players are considering Tennessee means nothing. There have been several Memphis players that have "considered" Tennessee over the past few years but didn't come here. Stokes was a great get by CCM but to think that one player has opened the pipeline to Memphis is more like a pipe dream. Our best hope for a pipeline is Atl not Mem.

It's funny how some on here make it sound like the Memphis kids are a Memphis vs Tennessee battle as if Kentucky, Duke, UNC, Kansas and every other major college program doesn't exist.

What do you people have against coach Martin. He did a great job getting Stokes. Give the man time. He will get it done.

The poster that you quoted didn't say anything bad about CCM. Open your eye's and ears and take that chip off your shoulder.

An extension/raise and a key the city perhaps? I don't know what is taking them so long to officially open Cuonzo Martin Highway yes I said highway the man deserves it after flipping the entire city of Memphis over to the Big Orange.

A "debt of gratitude"? How ridiculous can we be? I do hope Cuonzo can keep the pipeline of one open though.
