Cuonzo says Vols will be among nations best teams next season

Not sure about the "best", unless he means top 25. I think that's pretty achievable, giving Stokes a full year of practice and allowing the team to grow into Cuonzo's style more.

What's he gonna say? I think we're gonna underachieve next year, I'm gonna be passed over for an extension, and my wife will run away with Bruce Pearl at a BBQ.

Excellent! I agree, what's he going to say? We're going to suck next year! Every coach is saying the same thing right now, "we'll be better next year." And they should say that.

That's what keeps MOST fans going. Face it, UK, Kansas, UNC, & Duke know they're going to be good. For the rest of the fan bases, you put your energy behind "hope".

That's why recruiting is followed so closely by a lot of fans. Hope is a lot more exciting than reality for a lot of people. Just look at the jubilation on signing day. Grown ups and wetting their pants over an 18 year old kid's decision on where he'll play. That's putting your faith in hope.

Here's a stat most people will probably find hard to believe.

Tom Satkowiak‏@TomSatkowiak

Vols who had at least 1,000 pts, 400 rebs, 200 assists: Houston, Grunfeld, Lofton, Yarbrough, Watson, G. Carter, T. Smith and CAM TATUM

How is that crazy? He was here 4 years and had a lot of playing time in those 4 years.

He's probably played in 130 games, at least. That's an average of about 7 points, 3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.

Still, nice company to keep with the list he joins.

Tatum was a great role player at UT. Why anyone expected more than what he gave is beyond me. I'll take having a Cam Tatum on the roster every single year!

I agree, but I was expecting a bit more. I may have been hoping too much for double digit PPG and ~5 RPG, but he has been a great player for us.

The guy was no Dane Bradshaw. He had highs, but he had his fair share of lows. Cam just never seemed to get over that hump. Still, the guy got to be a part of a couple really successful teams, and that's how fans should remember him. His inconsistency the past 2 seasons was consistent with the rest of the team.
