Everyone will look at it as a Pearl thing and not a Mears thing.
I wish they wouldn't. Mears wore the jacket to antagonize the opponent and Pearl wore it to honor Mears and I think he did it to antagonize the opponent too. That isn't Martin's personality, but I think the crowd would love it if he did it. I liked the big orange tie he had on today.
Is Zo going to wear the Orange Blazer this season ?
I am still buzzing from this game... If we win against another ranked team in the next week or so would we have a chance to get ranked?
When you look at the big picture, Pearl may have ruined the potential of that tradition. He will be equally associated with with the blazer as Mears IMO. I suppose hard feelings could pass in time, but I don't see any current or future UT coach donning it in the next 20 years. Could be wrong though, who knows? I wouldn't be in favor of it, myself. Not trying to sound like a crazy Pearl-hater, but this is an issue I have a firm stance on at the moment.
What does it really matter? It's just an orange blazer. Dooley wears orange pants. I love it when coaches wear the colors. Opposing fans can't stand our orange and when the fans wear it and the coaches wear it then it just gets under their skin even more.
