Lets see One on had 2 losing seasons in 17 years and a National Championship with another SEC Championship and won the East in 97,98,01,04,07. The Other Lost to the most Crippled Kentucky team in his 2nd year, a Kentucky team that the other guy never lost to. The one guy has 2 losing seasons in 2 years and 3rd is in jeopardy of making it 3 in 3. You know I'm taking Fulmer and I was one who wanted him to walk away after 07 season.

I'd take Harvey Robinson, Jim McDonald, or Bill Battle over Derek Dooley now.

Easily the worst coach in modern Tennessee football history. A true disaster for this program and the young men who chose to play for Tennessee under his watch.

National championship, multiple top 5, 10, and 25 seasons, consistent top ranked defenses and a heisman finalist vs Derek Dooley, the guy responsible for more than 9% of our all time losses in less than 3 seasons?

152-52 in 17 seasons vs 32-40 in 3 seasons?

I think the choice is quite clear

Would start tailgating for women's softball if either of those happened. Prob about as crowded as Gameday would be after another couple years of either.

This question leads fans to make a judgement on people and circumstances based on the past. In my experience this is usually not a good choice because this judgement only allows pain and regret to fester.

Both men are capable of being great coaches. I don't think we can say that past performance will guarantee future success although it is usually a good indicator. But there are instances where the past is not a good indicator. For example, Nick Saban, who did not do well at his first head coaching job at Michigan State. Good thing that LSU or Alabama didn't judge him right?

So I am not sure what is gained in the question?

Do you people just repeat this over and over, hoping that it will eventually become fact?

First off, Saban's first head coaching job was Toledo. He went 9-2 and left after 1 year to become the Browns DC. Then, when he landed at Michigan State, he took over a team that went 0-11 the year before. In his first year at Michigan State, he beat Michigan, who was highly ranked at the time. It took him 4 years to build them into a top ten ranked team, but in the meantime, he never had a losing season and he upset a highly ranked rival or two (Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State) just about every season he was there.

Fulmer but I don't want him to come back. This is what we get for letting go a coach that was in the SEC championship the year before. We were like in the SEC championship game every 2-3 years. Yeah we lost, but now we are fighting for last. In recruiting in Fulmers last 2 years we were competing with the GA, Arkansas, Florida State, and Miami. Florida and LSU were ahead of us in recruiting Fulmers last 2 years. But now we are recruiting SMU, Louisiana Tech, Houston, NC State, GA TECH, Army calibers guys. We may still one or 2 guys that has offers like a bama or georgia. When fulmer was here he was going after the same people as a fla, ga, lsu. We gotta get a new coach in here for recruiting. Majority of current recruits that are committed to us have not had offers from a texas, fla, ga, lsu, bama, osu, usc jr, usc, fsu, miami, oklahoma. for example: K MILES 4star a lot of offers but none of those. b bradley 4star- same thing. jason carr 4 star from tn does have offer from lsu though. paul harris does have a lot of offers n from usc, osu, uscjr
