Curious as to who you all would pick

Lets see One on had 2 losing seasons in 17 years and a National Championship with another SEC Championship and won the East in 97,98,01,04,07. The Other Lost to the most Crippled Kentucky team in his 2nd year, a Kentucky team that the other guy never lost to. The one guy has 2 losing seasons in 2 years and 3rd is in jeopardy of making it 3 in 3. You know I'm taking Fulmer and I was one who wanted him to walk away after 07 season.

Great post, I too wanted Fulmer gone, probably prior to 2007. I think I wanted him gone in 2004 when he let Sanders blow our chance at another NC Title Game. I guarantee there are many on here trying to act like they knew UT was better off keeping Fulmer and wanted to keep him. But, they are lying to make themselves look good. I would say 90% of true Vol Fans wanted him gone. Unless, they had distant ties to Fulmer, had spent a lot of time around him at UT functions, or were his age are older when he got fired wanted him gone! Everyone I knew thought it was time for Fulmer to go. I still say he wouldn't be successful in the SEC even this year. It is atleast three times tougher now than it was during his dominant years. However, UT wouldn't be 0-6 in the SEC with him as HC. Hell, Frankin is 4-3. Who would have every thought we would be playing Vandy setting at 4-3 in the SEC and UT at 0-6? It is PURELY PATHETIC!!!

Two words, Mike Hamilton, the gift that keeps on giving. He took a very bad gamble with Kiffin. He could have got a much better coach. Most on here wants to say how great of a job Kiffin did when he was here. Monte's D would have been better than Sal, anyone can top Sal. But, Chaney, Pittman, Graham, and Hindshaw have the O on levels Kiffin wouldn't be achieving. Kiffin will soon be gone at USC. If USC loses two more games, Kiffin is gone this year.

Fulmer by a wide margin. No pun intended there. It amazes me how disrespectful some are to the coach with the 2nd highest winning percentage in UT history.

Of course the answer is Fulmer. Unless you are an Alabama Forest Gump troll, who is still hurt over losing quivering lip bubba.

Fulmer. used to work with Courtney Fulmer at D-1. All phil needs are good asst coaches, he is an administrator. Phil can win with good oc/dc and good position coaches

Fulmer is the better proven coach but this is a 10 YEAR choice in this little silly game.

Fulmer is too old, fat and out of shape so he might not last the 10 years of this silly game.

This season our Defense lost the games for us and that CAN be fixed just like our run game was fixed last offseason.

Of all our losses this year we were still only 10 big scoring PLAYS away from being a 1 loss team and being the SEC East Champions...Just 10 PLAYS and we would have Wins against Fla, Ga, MSU, SC and Mizzou and 10 PLAYS away from being a top 10 team with huge respect coming our way and top recruits looking seriously at Tennessee.

Since this game is a choice of Fulmer and CDD and knowing how much our O has improved along with our run game and knowing that our D can be fixed and Fulmers age and health then I'd have to gamble on CDD instead of Fulmer.

Fulmer is hardheaded and stuck in his ways and he refused to replace bad assistants when they needed to go.

CDD can still learn and get better and he's not scared to replace anyone when he's certain they won't get better.

Call me crazy or anything else but if my ONLY 2 choices are Fulmer and CDD then I'll take CDD and IF all our juniors come back next year under CDD I'll bet money we Win the SEC East next year because I know our Defense will be much better next season.

NOTE...This is a dumb thread and a dumb game anyway but it's something to do other than to bash CDD and all our coaches which is really immature and lame.

VFL...GBO!!!

So the question is would I rather lose and be entertained by a very good O.... or would I rather lose while the coach "plays not to lose". I'd take the entertainment value with Dooley's O over the abject frustration of watching Fulmer do his thing. Plus, there's at least a chance that Dooley will improve given enough time. Fulmer peaked in 1998 then didn't get any better even as other programs left UT in the dust.

That said... no choice is no choice.

Fulmer, think he would come back with some fire in his belly. He's already been fired so he probably wouldn't be afraid of hiring better assistants. I think Chavy would come back. At this point Fulmer was a great coach here, he was afraid to move forward and afraid to replace assistants that he didn't trust.

Some people really are stupid. Fulmer = Great Coach. Dooley = Awful coach.

if those are our only choices it might be better to just call it a day. It was a good run
