Current SEC conference champ race

Lsu and a&m will square up soon. Tx has trap games riddled in with A&m to close the season. We of course have UGA but still can't take any game for granted. This is going to get dicey. I dont see the committee putting in 5 SEC teams...4 feels like a stretch. We need to grind!View attachment 690251

these are the teams that need to be watched. They could very well dictate the number of SEC teams. They are all unbeaten at this point.

There is no doubt they will have losers here and we should hope they ALL lose a game. Unbeaten teams playing in conference championships and losing might vault two teams into CFP. Now not Army / Navy. They both have to worry about Boise St being above them as well as winning out.

An unbeaten Big 12 team losing in championship game to a one loss team MIGHT bring 2 Big 12 to CFP.

Unbeaten Oregon losing in the B10 Championship might juggle top 12 with more Big 10 teams.

Of course Miami and Pitt remaining unbeaten and playing for ACC MIGHT put two ACC teams in.

These are potential teams could dictate the number of SEC teams.

Lot still to happen.... and it will all come down a a committee's votes in the top 25 ranking of the CFP.

Army - Air force, @ N Texas, @ Notre Dame, UTSA and Navy
BYU - @ UCF, @ Utah, Kansas, @ Arizona St and Houston
Indiana - Washington, @ Michigan St, Michigan, @ Ohio St and Purdue
Iowa St - Texas Tech, @ Kansas, Cincinnati, @ Utah and Kansas St
Miami - Florida St, Duke, @ Georgia Tech, Wake Forest and @ Syracuse
Navy - Notre Dame, @ Rice, @ South Florida, Tulane and @ East Carolina
Oregon - Illinois, @ Michigan, Maryland, @ Wisconsin and Washington
Penn St - @ Wisconsin, Ohio St, Washington, @ Purdue, @ Minnesota and Maryland
Pittsburgh - Syracuse, @ SMU, Virginia, Clemson, @ Louisville and @ Boston College

This expansion of playoffs is silly. If we lose 2 games and miss the playoffs. It's not a crime. The playoff expansion was to make sure the best teams get in. When you get to 8,9,10,11,12.....they were not the best teams. If you get left out, I believe you already had your chance. No reason to cry about it.

Agree the expansion was to remediate the selection when there were 5 major conferences along with a strong independent and/or non P5 school. This was to give all conference champions and the other two categories a chance to prove it on the field with a game. Given the collapse of one of the conferences, they really just need 6 spots to account for that.

The other 6 will always be controversial.

And we have to pull for Bama this weekend. Maybe against LSU too.

Florida could help us out by beating LSU.
Florida is looking better if Lagway continues to grow would not surprise me to see them upset some along the way. They have some high rated players it's just a matter of putting it together, the QB will be the main ingredient if they trend up.

Miami should win each of those games by 20 or more points. Easiest schedule I have seen in a a long time.

Win the SEC
The conference championship is no longer viewed by most as a great thing. It's nice to get but probably better to skip it rest and not play in all likelihood the 2nd best team in the country. The team that doesn't play in the sec championship get the bye a week earlier.
I guess it must be my age that has me believe that championships matter whether it's conference or national. Playing in those games and losing makes you easily forgotten.

Here is an idea somebody else here floated and starting to see traction. P4 conferences was have their own 4 team playoff to determine the conference championship. Then, each of the P4 champs go into a 4 team playoff for the natty.

Makes the conference championship important and attainable for teams that drop a loss early but get hot late, as 4 contenders is plenty to choose from 16 teams in the SEC.

Get rid of the G5 auto bid. They can have their own championship.

Stop conceding the Georgia game. Y'all are freaking killing me. We're going to beat the ongoing criminal enterprise Kirby Smart has going on down there in Athens. Book it.

I hope you’re right, but as of right now I just don’t see it. UGA just got their best players back healthy on DL and Kirby hates TN so he will have them ready to play. Particularly if we roll into Athens with 1 loss, he always has them up for big games. We have to improve A LOT on offense to have a shot in that game. Our defense will keep it close, but I haven’t seen anything yet to suggest we pull off an upset there.

I know it makes the Vols look better, the more UF wins.
I know that I want UF to keep Napier.
But, living in Florida, it’s sooooo hard to ever pull for the Gators.

All I ask is for people to save the “SEC Championship doesn’t matter” talk unless we’re out of the running. As long as we’re in the mix, we want to win this thing.
