Curt Maggitt: ESPN's double-digit sack artists

Was he? Because I was watching, and well, I mean he was as good as anyone else on the team. I think he has been riding off the hype of his recruitment and he has the right mind set (as a leader) no doubt. Everyone says that. Just, yet to prove anything on the field that I'm aware of. Hope he can hit that bam a QB man. Nobody else has.

"yet to prove anything on the field...?" You might want to go back and check his stats and film.

I hate that we lost out on Caleb Azubike. 4* from one of the largest schools in TN (McGavock) and Dooley didn't even offer.

He's by far Vandy's most disruptive player on D. We really could've used him this year. Guys like him, Jelks, and Townsend. In-state prospects that grew up liking the Vols... Our lines would be a strength this year instead of our crutch had Butch been here to recruit those guys IMO.

He only has 2.5 sacks in 20 games. heck, he only has 10 TFL in 20 games. Why is he on this list? (that sounds sarcastic, but I mean it as a real question) pure potential? position move?

Pure potential. Physically, he is very gifted but has not really been able to show much due to health and playing outside linebacker. Playing more downs at the end position will get him more opportunities to be disruptive. I don't know if he gets ten sacks though.

I am really surprised at the hype around Maggit. I am all for him and hope he can be everything he always wanted to be, I just don't know HOW it can be done. He hasn't played against an opponent in a very long time. Half his college career has been sitting. How is this hype possible? I don't know, I haven't been around him, I don't know him, I haven't seen him play. That's the point tho, no one has seen him play. Where is all this hype coming from?

It's the dreads

I tend to agree. He's been only decent, even when healthy. He looks the part, but hasn't played the part. Now, after a year off, and currently nursing a bad ankle, we're expecting some sort of miracle turn around? Hey, here's to optimism and hope.

I really see this being a huge year for him. I think saving him for the whole season was the thing to do. he'll be ready. Some of these new QBs wont know what hit them.

As you can tell by my avi, I want this dude to destroy hearts and minds this season at the DE position.

why did he miss all year with his injury? didn't he miss half of the season before that as well? same injury I assume.

When he sacks Chuckie a couple of times on third and long, only then will you understand.

Tore his ACL in the Florida game of 2012. Some players just can't come back and be 100% in 1 year like Adrian Peterson did or even your own Chuckie. Sometimes its a 2 year injury.

I was sad for Curt that he got hurt. He was on his way to all America imo. He showed insane amount of talent and skill set. He could cover the field like no one and chase people down

If Curt didn't get hurt, we would have been to two more bowl games and he'd be an NFL rookie.

For a guy that has never played a full season that's a bold statement. It would be like stating that Jeff Driskel throwing for 3,500 yards considering he hasn't played a full season.

It's going to be hard for Maggitt to live up to expectations. He has not played in a long time, he's coming off a serious knee injury, he doesn't really have that much experience to begin with, he's already got a bad ankle and the season hasn't started, and he apparently will be playing some at a new position. Talent is talent--but even if he can stay healthy, and that's a big if with him, it could take him a while, I think, to feel good and comfortable on the football field.
