Curt Maggitt listed behind Sapp on depth chart

For the South Carolina game, Maggitt now listed as as a backup to Dontavius Sapp. I take it his status is now probable instead of questionable at WLB? This and the return of Marlin Lane will be huge for the Vols.

He's been listed on the 2-deep before and didn't play. I really believe he's redshirting. Would be great if he can play though!

Maggitt wants to redshirt this year. he is not comfortable playing at this juncture. I don't expect him to play this year.. coaches would have already put him in but he wants to sit out the year

Hyams reported Monday that Maggitt wants to red shirt. He indicated the coaches are ready to play him but are honoring his wishes for a red shirt.

I would say that he will get his redshirt unless Sapp gets injured and Maggitt is forced to play. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think we have any depth behind Sapp and Maggitt at that LB spot.

Jalen Reeves-Maybin may be sharing time soon. He is a playmaker I would love to see getting minutes on D. If he has another game like UGA I don't see how CBJ and co. keep him off the field.

Seriously happy coaches take players & their families desires into it. Dooley should have sat Curt plenty last year for the kids health. But who did Coach Doofus care about? Only his direct deposit so his bank teller and thats it.

Sapp has been the most consistent player on defense this year. It will be nice to have Maggitt next year with some of the young guys coming in.

Even if AJ leaves, which i dont think he will, We will have:

Maggitt RS JR - 4* OLB
Thomas RS So
Harris RS Jr - 3* OLB
Bynum RS So - 3*
J. King Jr - 3* OLB
Reeves-Maybin So - 4* OLB

Bates FR - 4*
Bryant FR - 4*
Weatherd JUCO Jr - 4* (#1 Juco OLB)
Mouhon FR - 4*

That LB core is not too shabby, IMO

I think Maggitt will be a RS-Jr., but I agree with you that next year's LB corp. could be better than this year's, especially if A.J. comes back.

OLB: Weatherd/JRM MLB: Johnson/Bynum OLB: Maggitt/JRM. Mix in Bates, Bryant, Mouhoun, and maybe Garrett and that's serious.

he hasn't gotten enough reps to get into games at LB yet...
