He has 1 more year RS or not and that will be the end of it, cant see him staying 2 more years..ahh..playing in the Bristol game...might keep him here 2 more years...that would be awesome.

Hyams reported Monday that Maggitt wants to red shirt. He indicated the coaches are ready to play him but are honoring his wishes for a red shirt.

Could someone please explain to my why red shirting is a good idea? Even if he gains another year of eligibility, he won't stay for it. Regardless, after his true senior year next year he'll be graduated and will most likely go pro. What am I missing?

Risk of injury. Maggitt is not comfortable yet, so honor his wish and let him get 100% mentally. Could do more harm than good if he isn't ready on his end, with him worrying about his knee he is going to always be a step slow.

You don't come back day 1 and expect to be the man again. You've got to earn that.

When do coaches listen to players and not medical doctors? Especially college players.

FWIW, Butch sounded none too pleased during the weekly presser about Maggitt redshirting this year.

You don't have to like a decision to necessarily honor and respect it. I relate it to children. You sometimes have to give them the advice you feel is best but allow them to make their own decision. If their decision is not what you'd personally choose, you may not be pleased with their decision; but you should still honor their decision since you gave them that choice in the first place.

Seems it would be crazy to burn the redshirt and lose a year of eligibility to play for the remainder of the year, but there are a lot of factors for the coaching staff and CM to consider.

Who said he would be drafted? He hasn't played enough to be considered a high draft pick. His senior year he could show out and improve his draft stock.

I mean, I'm sure he will respect Curt's choice. Can't force a guy to play if he doesn't want to play. But he had quite the Spurrier-esque tone going on when discussing it, and I hear CM has just so happened to be getting a lot of time in the Tennessee Tough drill as of late.

He was called up once to do it the other day. I wouldn't read too much into it
