Nick C with a micro-fracture of the wrist it appears from that Brewer pitch. Going to sit it out for awhile and heal.

Wonder when the bad luck as well as intentionally hit batters turns back the other way? As Burhead posted this has been going on for years. I thought when the Rats fired Hurtle it would slow down. It hasn't.

Alright! My feelings about playing y’all this weekend. I don’t think this is the right time to be playing y’all right now. I know it’s on the schedule, and we’re both trying to catch the Brewers. I could see maybe on down the line, maybe in August playing y’all. I actually wanted to play the Brewers this weekend to be honest. Here is why I said this: The trade deadline is next week, and I just wanted to see where we really stand with them, and to see what we needed to get help wise. I do believe though, now playing y’all we will know by Monday what we need. I believe y’all already know what y’all need, but still this will help both teams. Y’all need help, and we need help. Your bullpen really needs extra arms, and I don’t know your good pitchers in the bullpen, but surely the good ones need help. This is tough in a way, because I have been pulling for y’all to catch these Brewers. It isn’t over yet, and both teams have got to get healthier to do this. After our series is over, I believe we can catch them still.

I dislike watching Mahle pitch more than any other. He drives me crazy with the high pitch counts. He's walked 3 consecutive batters and when he had a 3-1 count Stephenson was giving him a target on the edge. He can't hit the broad side of a barn. Give him a target right down the freaking middle. He won't hit it but maybe it will be a strike somewhere.

Congratulations for the win. Our bullpen looked sucky tonight.

Thanks, Yep - battle of the lousy pens. Both teams are wounded, so they will play pretty even. When y'all had to bat Wainwright as a PH in the 9th it was like wut? Then I saw there was nobody left but to hit him or another pitcher.

I actually agree, Mahle doesn't have overpowering stuff with anything. So he has to be on the edges, move it up and down, and change the speeds. But he's lost his control currently. Probably needs some time off. So, throw it down the middle and it will tail somewhere.

It is nice seeing Joseph Daniel Votto experience a late career mini-resurgence.

He's playing well by going to the upright stance with more power instead of going with line drives or walks. Bat speed slowed down along with some age related vision issues IMO. He was missing on the strike zone and had begun to strike out a lot more. This extended his career productivity IMO.

Sure is good to see Castillo right the ship and be the man again.

Moose is getting closer. Had two tears at different times in his plantar fasciitis, which is non-surgical recovery. He's doing baseball stuff to get ready.

Congratulations again. Our offense is dead. Mike Shildt playing with Russian roulette again, and doesn’t know what he is doing half of the time.

Votto a cardinal killer! We can’t get him out.

Just nice to see him have some success at the end of his career to bad we wasted a HoFer like we did.

I don't know how the rest of this season plays out but I think I've gotten more excitement out of this club than even our playoff teams in years past. Add in the bullpen issues and all the killer injuries this group doesn't quit and when they get punched in the mouth they get back up and punch back.

Agree, it's just different this year. Still anxious to see how well they play as the regulars get healthy and return over the next few weeks. Trade deadline coming up as well. Padres got Frazier from the Rats, so that hurts in the wild card race.

It is nice to see him having a good run, and I hope he continues playing well. I’ve always liked him and watched him a lot. That’s just it, y’all haven’t quit, and y’all do fight back. I mentioned a couple of days ago that I’ve never seen the excitement of red fans in a long time, and yes I agree, fix your bullpen. Y’all can go a long ways.

Y’all have four games with the Cubs. I think if you take 3 out of 4 or all four games, you put them away for good. I think they’re done anyways, because of all of the trades might be coming up this week. They will sink into the abyss if you do just that. With the Brewers playing the lowly pirates, I have a feeling that the reds and cards have to win a lot of games till Sunday at least. We need to somehow stay up with them.

Votto's third consecutive game with a homer beautiful.

JV is carrying the team currently.

Bell puts a .230 BA hitter in the third spot and a .170 hitter in the clean up spot. Really DA moves.

We need to get some guys back.
