Would love to run a bunch of alternate reality simulations with our football program over the last 10-12 years and see how things would have turned out.
- If Carroll never left USC, how long does Lane stay here? How well does he perform?
- If Lincoln made that FG against Alabama, does that make Lane at least think long and hard about leaving UT? Sounds silly, but if that FG is good all of a sudden that becomes an 8-4 regular season with a road win in a rivalry game against the #1 team in the country. Not bad at all, especially for his first season, and we enter 2010 with a huge amount of momentum.
- What if we didn't have 14 guys on the field against LSU? It was one game, but would a huge victory like that early in Dooley's tenure have changed his trajectory?
- What if Dobbs's redshirt wasn't burned in 2013, allowing him to stay for the 2017 season? There's no way Butch goes 0-8 in conference play with Dobbs at QB and he probably isn't fired after that season, right?
- What if Currie was allowed to hire Mike Leach? I personally don't think Leach would have worked out here, but it would have been incredibly entertaining.
