Daddy DeShields apologizes

Daddy and Daughter both need to transfer. Both bring nothing but Dissension to the basketball program now.

NO! Lady Vol Nation is also aware of what Kortney Dunbar sister had to say.

The issue and the thorn on our side is the coach!

Fire Holly, NOW!:)

Mercedes Russell looks awful playing anymore. Makes terrible decisions with the ball and is a turnover machine. Not defending Holly but she's not the one making the crappy plays its the players. Best coach in the world won't win if his/her players are making one bone headed play after the other.

Presently the best coach in the world does not allow his players to make bone headed plays one after the other. They know they will be riding pine if they do. He is the reason Stewie is going to get her threepete. Whether we like him or not.:whistling:

No they don't. Those players aren't looking completely unmotivated because Daddy Deshields made a tweet or two. Even in games where they win, they're looking downtrodden and unsatisfied! They hardly ever look fired up in games. I believe any dissension has more to do with losses, incredibly bad coaching, and fan dissatisfaction from all of the above.

BINGO!!!! Great Pernt!! When they look dissatisfied even after wins speaks of something a lot deeper that apparently this coaching staff can't fix.

When dealing with high level talent, you have to set the bar high, hold players accountable and have a philosophy/system. Coaches at the top their game, Geno-Saban and the likes, have a system/philosophy that they know that works and they hold their players accountable. UConn will be dominate until Geno decides to retire because his system is running itself at this point and the players buy-in year after year after year. And because they are not "one-and-done" they develop and mature into that system.

Takes a good man to recognize the error of his ways and then ask forgiveness for his errors.

More character than most I know.

If Holly did that, everyone this season would be benched. What would you have her do then? Just forfeit?

Screw that. That's like staying at a job because "you made a commitment". Give your two weeks and move on.

If you're unhappy, go someplace and be happy.

People are as happy as they make up their mind they're going to be. People that chase happiness seldom find it. My two cents on that subject.

A good coach will know how to develop Mercedes according to her strengths and weaknesses. They would have long ago told her to stop bringing the ball down so much...

I have heard Lockwood tell her more than once to hold the ball up. I've seen him on the sideline demonstrate for her how and where to hold the ball.

Not to throw gas on the fire but ... sort of an apology without apologizing! He is sorry he used twitter to express himself, but he sort of stands by his statements.
I get the frustration level, but the last thing any team needs is input from parents or siblings. I don't think Holly is a good coach, but her job gets incrementally more difficult when players say 'well, my dad says I need to be doing more of _____' or 'my AAU coach thinks I should be playing like this'.

I missed that one. What did she have to say?

Her sister posted on her face book (I think) it was somewhere on social media that she didn't understand why Kortney wasn't getting any playing time.

Holly was asked that question in an interview this past week. Her answer was a bunch of fib lying jibberish. Just to stop the questioning about Kortney.

I hated that I watched that interview because she gets on my last nerve with her incessant nose and head scratching while blabbering on about how the LVs just need to play hard and compete. She says the same thing all the time but in different ways but it all comes out meaning the same.

Good gawd almighty I can't wait anymore!
Fire Holly, NOW!:)

Holly is getting paid close to a half million dollars. This type of issue isn't new to college sports. If she can't handle it then she needs to step aside and let someone else that can.

Fire Holly, NOW!:)

Dat part. Mental Midgets. Head Coach on down! We need a consistent performer, its been none existence, which means, we are a squad without a leader and those teams don't fair too well.

He got frustrated with Holly as we all have. Anyone that watched the Texas A&M game knows she doesn't have a clue. I guess fans will have to live with her until she gets the program in rebuilding mode and is replaced. It is definitely coming sooner than most realize.

from his twitter account:

I want to apologize to Coach Warllick and LadyVol Nation. I’m not writing this to back away from my comments. What’s done is done. But my delivery was terrible and totally out of character. I’m part of the coaching fraternity and should know better.

A lot of people have chimed in, but those who really know me KNOW that I want nothing but the best for Holly, her staff, and all the young lady’s associated with that program. Hopefully, we can all grow from this.

Well Mr. DD most everyone who responds on this forum want the best for the lady vols and without being a coach we see that the leadership of the lady vols is really lacking, truth be told. Its ok to tell the truth.

Here is what my parents would have told me, and what I told my own kids: You made a commitment to UNC. Honorable people keep their commitments. It doesn't matter if you don't like it, don't agree, etc. You MAKE IT WORK.

And, if it had been me, I never would have known my parents did not agree with my coach, or teacher, or whatever. I would have been told, as I told my own kids, "It's up to YOU to convince her that she is wrong, by working twice as hard as you have been."

That's basically what I told my child. You have to be better and work harder than anyone on that field

Terrible analogy. Terrible premise. That type of behavior just results in a weak minded person. That is basing your happiness on circumstances and will simply lead to a wash and repeat cycle. A 100% truth about circumstances is....there will always be circumstances. If you place your happiness in circumstances then you are simply setting yourself up for failure.

There was a sequence in the Tenn/ S.C. game where Russell had Coates buried in the post on the block. Coates at the time had 3 fouls. It was the perfect post up and Nared was in perfect position to get her the ball. What did Nared do??....she dribbled away from Russell to the top of they key and threw a bounce pass out of bounds. I said, WTFT was that as I looked at my daughter!!! You could see Lockwood on the sideline motioning to Nared that she needed to have an angle to get the ball into Russell.
