I decided to watch their coverage of the election tonight.

The funniest/my favorite thing they said:

"We can call it. Mitt Romney has won most of the Confederacy."

Colbert on the Los Angeles measure requiring pornographic actors to use condoms: "That's right folks, more burdensome regulations for America's job creators, in the sectors of hand, rim, and blow."

I used to be a big fan of both but Stewert's schtick just got old after awhile. I still catch clips every now and then but my attention span for a whole episode is gone.

Colbert is still pretty funny but I don't really make time for him either. He did a great interview on NOR's Fresh Air last month explaining how he has to watch all news on politics in character. He had a great point too about the religious right wanting to inject their beliefs into politics but not giving much thought that it's a two way street and politics can come right back into the church.

I just watched the DS from the after the election. I haven't laughed that hard at the DS in years. It was basically just a highlight reel of the Fox News election night melt down.

The Fresh Air interview was great. Everyone should give it a listen.

Did anyone notice an old Vols locker room as the OTS picture behind Stewart on tonight's Daily Show?

Is that the Colbert replacement? I haven't kept up.

Yeah, it's 2 days in and I only watched it last night to see if I thought it had potential to maybe get better. I'll watch tonight and tomorrow and if they don't change the crappy format by then, I'm done with it. It's a real shame

Nobody can be Colbert. Nobody is that quick-witted and simultaneously calculated. Anybody trying to follow his act has a tough up-hill battle.

I don't want him to be Colbert. It's just that the direction they went for this show's premise blows. Wilmore talks for 7 minutes, commercial break, then they do 15 minutes of panel discussion with a commercial break in between. But the panel is 2 comedians, 2 not comedians, and Wilmore. So it's this awkward discussion of some people trying to be funny and some people trying to be firm-handed and it just misses the mark all together. And it ends with "Keep it 100" by Wilmore asking each panel member 1 tough question and they have to "Keep it 100." Just horrendous.

John Oliver's show on HBO is pretty good.

It's basically just the Daily Show on HBO but only once a week.

Never been a fan of John Oliver. I don't find him funny and his accent is annoying. I was surprised he got an HBO show. I just don't see what others see in him.

Not a fan on The Nightly Show so far, it has the potential to be good, but I agree with what's already been said, the format of the show sucks.

I haven't watched the show with any regularity in years. I'll miss him mostly because he's been a constant satirical voice for most of my adult life.
