I would just like to ask everyone this question: Have you purchased any Amp energy drinks since it was announced as Junior's sponsor?

Amp's marketing strategy has already gotten the best of me.

If I could find some sugar-free Amp, I'd buy some, but it won't be because of Jr.

i haven't had caffeine in over 4 years. Jr isn't going to change my mind. I didn't drink Folgers because of Mark Martin, I didn't use Valvoline because of him, and I have no need to use Viagara. Logos on cars do little in convincing me what to buy or use. My second driver would be Tony Stewart. I've been in Home Depot three times in my life. I can't count the trips I've made to Lowe's.

i think Miller Lite sucks. i just drink neutral beer at the race.

i hate Jimmie Johnson so much and i think Lowe's is better than Home Depot.

If one of the choices for a product, service or business is a sponsor and I have no other reason to choose, I'll usually go with the Nascar sponsor. I won't buy something over a brand I like or something I don't need just because they are a sponsor. As far as Amp, I've never drank any booster type beverage, and have no desire to do so now. I'll stick to Gatorade which happens to be a sponsor.

am i the only one that thinks JR jumped at the chance to switch cars/numbers/brands just so all the jr lovers would spend more money on his merchandise?

I won't buy anything just because it's my drivers sponsor. If Lowes has a better deal than Home Depot,
Lowes gets the business.I don't use energy drinks and don't like Mountain Dew,so no to the original question.

I buy DeWalt tools, generally, not sure if it has anything to do with Matt Kenseth or not, maybe something subliminal, but the quality is good. My reciprocating saw is a Milwaukee, naturally, but that should go without saying.

All my work clothes are Carhartt, mainly because i hoarde coupons, but also because they last. I never did try smirnoff ice, so i guess i'm not impacted by sponsors.

However, has anyone seen the 60 minutes on classic from, i'll say the late 80's, about Richard Petty? There was people on there saying Petty's sponsorships and endorsement influenced their purchases on everything, even freakin OATMEAL!!!

Just think, everytime you see a stupid advertising schill, there is someone out there eating it up. I know a guy that will only drink Dasani water. Why, you ask? Because it's made by Coca-Cola.

:whatever: Sad but true, at $24 a clip at the track. The crowd at the track is going to look like my lawn after my hound ate a green sharpie, putrid green.

I have between 6 to 10 guests at my house every Bristol race from all over the country. One couple from Arkansas, two from Wisconsin, and others from wherever. I don't know the exact extent they buy NASCAR sponsor's products, but I know they do to some degree as they talk about it and have those products.

As far as Driver paraphernalia, they all without exception are decked out in it fully, and spend serious money on more every race. I am not exagerating in that some spend as much for souveniers as they do for tickets. For those not familiar with the Bristol phenomena, the August race is the toughest ticket in all NASCAR, some say one of the toughest in sports. Motorhomes start filling campgrounds that only exist for races two weeks before the race. Souvenier trailers set up a week before the race and stay busy. Many of these fans take their vacations to do this. 160,000 people fill the stands at a town with population of less than 50,000.

that must be what it was. I was sure that it had nothing to do with moving over to Hendrick, not being able to take the "8" with him, and Bud wanting to sponsor another driver. Thanks for that perspective!.:wavey:

you didn't know? the whole move was just a ruse to sell more hats, t-shirts and energy drink. Junior doesn't care about racing.

No..... I am a huge Stewart fan but I don't prefer HD over Lowes, I don't buy into the driver-brand connection/loyalty.

Neckcar will not have an impact of my consumer choices. I would support a Natural Light Car though. :birgits_giggle:

I'm just saying it made his decision to jump from DEI to Hendrick that much easier. He looked at the profits he'd get from merchandise alone and couldn't say no. I'm not saying he doesn't care about racing, but he cares more about those dollar signs.

i disagree. the guy could have stayed with Budweiser and continued to sell merchandise hand over fist. Dale Jr is a mint, no mater for who or for where. if you go to a race, you can just about walk up to any merch trailer and get what you want. every race, everywhere, requires a wait to get to the Dale Jr. trailer.

sure, he's probably pulling in a little more paper these days than he was previously, but if you asked me what percentage each reason to stay or go had, i'd say it was more than 50% to win a championship and less than 50% to sell more gear.

I don't think it means enough to him. To me he never seems as hungry (as the cliche goes) as some of the other drivers do. I think Smoke, Gordon, Johnson and the Busch bros. are all hungrier than Earnhardt. To me Earnhardt just likes the limelight.

he's completely opposite. he wants to win just as bad as anybody out there. thing is, he's not quite as good as the guys you mentioned and has black death for a crew chief. those guys are elite, with maybe the exception of the younger Busch, but he will be.

his problem was/is he's to loyal to his family. if he would drop that dolt Eury Jr. i think you would see a huge increase in his performance. i've heard him say in interviews, and i think somebody mentioned it in here, that sometimes he wishes he could just drive race cars and let somebody else, do everything else.

he's in the spot light because he has a genius of a business manager (his sister) who is using his name to sell everything from jeans to tailgate tents.
