Dallas Thomas & Miami Dolphins

Dallas has performed badly in Miami . As a Miami fan I had high hopes for him but he's floundered on the practice squad. After these revelations maybe that was best for him personally though

There is a thread about this in the NFL forum. Also, Dallas Thomas is a guy that probably should be lightly hazed...

Lol, he was standing straight up. What did he expect happen there?

And that's why he was moved to Guard. His leverage at tackle was and still is awful.

agreed - still think he can be an NFL guy if they put him at G and it is a passing scheme - has no chance to play in the NFL at tackle on an everydown basis - valuable as he could swing out for a few quarters or something if you have an injury but you cant plan on starting him at T imo

Sometimes a bully pushes the button on the wrong person. What if Martin had snapped and took a crowbar or ball bat to Incognito and crippled him? Things like that do happen. It would behoove the NFL and the individual teams to get a handle on that stuff before it ramps up that far.

With all the chatter on Sports call in shows I seriously doubt any team would touch Incognito. What is really sad is that during the Airport press conference the other day Philbin never once said a word of regret to what Martin endured. For that Philbin you can be dismissed at seasons end along with the GM. Martin was a victim and you never said a sympathetic word. You knew what was going on as reported you all had Incognito to toughen up Martin. Seriously? This is troubling times in Miami and some heads need to roll.

I just think the NFL needs to make a strict rule prohibiting any form of hazing, and enforce it as sternly as they do helmet to helmet hits. Why? Cause they are supposed to be f__king PROFESSIONALS! Hazing folks with BS haircuts and forcing rookies to pay for stuff, etc...is juvenile BS! It has no place in ANY profession.

When I was in the Army, I pulled a little prank on some other soldiers, with the little penny stack jammed in the door seam (it puts so much pressure on the door knob, it's really hard to open the door). I just did it for about 30 sec....and I ended up getting an Article 15 for it.

They didn't play around with that stuff in the Army, so the NFL damn sure shouldn't. Don't know of any workplace I've ever been in, where they would tolerate hazing/harrassing of any kind.

Professional athletics is way different than professionalism.

When did we all get so soft? Martin acted like a baby. There is no place for racist comments, but this should have been handled by the players. From what has been reported, Martin never talked to anyone about this, including Incognito.

Because it sounds like Incognito is a rational and sensitive guy

I'm not real hung up on the moral side of this issue but I'm not saying I'm right in taking such a position. I'm just baffled at the decision-making of the Dolphin organization. It's obvious the staff felt Martin needed to be tougher, but wouldn't just a little bit of due diligence before the draft discover if this was a weakness before they spent a 2nd round draft pick on him? And then once they supposedly realize Martin was soft, they make the wonderful decision to use Incognito to toughen him up? Just does not make sense to me (I'm not even going to debate whether Incognito should have ever been signed in the first place as more teams than not would have taken a chance on him).

This is just one little example that indicates how ineptly run the Dolphins are. They fill 2 of the 5 starting spots on the offensive line with a thug like Incognito and a player who they either knew or should have known was soft...and it is still was one if not the worst o-lines in the NFL. And now, 2 of their starters are out for the remainder of the year and neither were injured.

What a bunch of buffoons...they thought they could win the division and they are on the fast track to 10 losses.

I thought part of the issue they had with Martin is the skipping of "voluntary" OTA's .. that started the Incognito thing with "get him in the fold"

Pretty sure Incognito was just jealous Martin can read and write. The guy is a straight up, dirty, POS player and one that I hope never earns another dollar playing football.

No, he's a turbo douche and a seriously damaged person. His pattern of bullying goes back to 2002 when he was kicked off the team for bullying. Plenty of teams refused to take him. However, many teammates of his have said that they love his antics.

My statement about becoming soft, was not to intimate that this type of behavior is acceptable, but rather to say, it should not have been allowed to continue for over a decade. Obviously many people thought it was okay, because he was never thrown against a locker and told to stop.

Martin is a baby however, and Incognito was encouraged to bully him by coaches.

My post was entirely sarcastic. If the dynamic between those 2 is as being reported, there was nothing to be gained by going to him or even teammates. I would have to think there is a valid reason the guy left.

I'm going to stop short of making an assessment of Martin since I have nothing to go on. We already have many fact s on Incognito, but I have no idea what Martin has (allegedly) endured. He may have been in a no win situation. Who is to say that if he tries to handle the situation himself, it gets better? He didn't even want to file a claim initially, he just left and was keeping to himself. He didn't go to the press or even report a thing until Sunday.

That's a good point, I just can't ignore that Incognito was enabled all these years. If it wasn't condoned, somebody would have put him in his place. He was allowed to act this way because apparently in their locker room, being soft is worse than being racist.

I don't have a clue how this thing plays out, but one way or another, I don't think we even have a portion of the real situation there. There is so much more to it, whether or not it looks favorable to one or the other I don't know, but there is something missing here. There is another dynamic to the race issue that has come out today, in that many apparently think of Incognito as an honorary black man. Not sure if you saw the article but it was ridiculous. Pretty much said that some in the locker room don't consider Martin black' due to his lifestyle, personality, etc. I found it absurd.

What baffles me is all the "support" Incognito is getting from players on and off the Dolphins

Perhaps that's because they know the true story and we don't. Hartline said Martin was passing the voicemail around the locker room and laughing about it earlier this year.

I just read that as well. It seems to me that Martin, who recently checked himself into a mental hospital for a day, has some serious issues as well. Just a crazy situation. Philbin is a weak HC and the Dolphins need to tear it down and start over.

There's a difference between hazing and abuse.

The same goes for context and lack thereof. We don't have context or tone with ANY of this. By the sound of the Dolphin players, it wasn't aggressive. People need to Stop calling it abuse without any context.
