Who has Excelled more with their first yr. head coach, Bradshaw or Maymon? I would say Dane Bradshaw, but Maymon has surprised the hell out of me this year.

maymon is a better player than Bradshaw, any day. Bradshaw showed the Vols courage and toughness, but Maymon is our overall best player this year, while Bradshaw was never our best player.

Two totally different stories. Plus Dane went from backup PG to starting 6'4 PF.

Bad comparison. Maymon is a 4 or 5. Bradshaw played 1-4 as needed. Might as well compare Steve hamer to trae golden.

I mean, I see where you're trying to go with this comparison, but I think it's a huge stretch. Bradshaw was like the Nick Reveiz of basketball, a real VFL that "wants it", but Maymon has done far more in terms of development of his game and has really kept us in the game.

If you could trade out Maymon for Bradshaw this season on this team, would you? Personally, hell no. Without Maymon, Memphis beats us by 30 in Maui instead of by 2 in 2OT.

Bottom line, Maymon >>> Bradshaw, in terms of skill and ability. Maymon = Bradshaw, in terms of heart and grit. JMO.

This is the stupidiest thread ever. Obviously, you didn't watch Bradshaw play. Nothing worse than watching a slow, undersize 4 that couldn't shoot. Might have had heart or glue or what ever, but we've had a major upgrade at the 4 ever since he was left.

I feel like lots of people didn't read the question.
He was asking who grew more from what they were under the previous coach to what they became under the new coach in the new coach's first year, not who the better player is.

Actually, watching that kid bust his tail every game is some of my best memories of UT basketball. That was a fun year to be a Vol fan and Bradshaw had alot to do with that. I don't understand why some here do not appreciate that and instead choose to insult Bradshaw. It says alot for many of the posters here. Was he a star? Of course not. However, we have had some much better athletes that had they had Bradshaw's drive and competitiveness, UT and said athletes would have been more successful while they were here and the former players would be making NBA money now.

Dude won 2 state titles as a pg out of Memphis and won a lot of games at UT playing 4 different positions.

That means you know how to play the game.

Just wait til next year after Maymon works on that 3 point shot all offseason. This guy will be one of the elite players next year.

I like Maymon a lot. What's odd is that he is somewhat of a better rebounder when he just sees the ball and goes to get it. Sometimes, when he boxes out, he loses track of the ball and will give up a rebound to his guy going over or around him.

Not sure about this 3 deal. I'll be glad to eat crow, I just don't see the release or touch to make it happen and become a threat.

I think the - reaction to him is the nonsensical legend hype created by a few on here who do not remember reality and act as if Dane Bradshaw should have been All-SEC or is one of the all time Vol greats. Your + points are valid and it sure was fun then, but DB was a below average SEC player with a lot of grit. It's hard not to respect a blue collar guy like that.

Exactly . . . Not denigrating Bradshaw, just not seeing the two being remotely comparable.
