Seeing all the new threads that have been started by LV, and the offers he has stated that we have handed out, seems we are doing well out out on the recruiting trail.

they have visited a ton of guys this week. seems like they are just as tenacious on the road as the last staff was. they just have to build relationships with these guys. i have been very impressed with them this week.

I am willing to bet someone disagrees with you because we only have 2 commits for this class...
I like what they are doing. It's way to early to take commit numbers seriously.

I was thinking the same thing as I was reading these threads. CLT is beast.

Keep'em coming though. It does a good job of being a counter-balance to the Full of bull threads.....

tennessee sells itself. u just need somebody competent to recruit well. tradition and facilities speak for themselves

I disagree. I think UT is a very difficult place to recruit. There's not a ton of in-state talent. Also, we all love Knoxville for some reason or another, but it's not exactly a vacation destination, or a place where kids from Florida, Texas, California, etc. grow up dreaming to live.

UT does have excellent facilities, and that's a huge plus. And there's some tradition, but not as much as Alabama, Florida, Texas, and a few other schools that we compete for kids with.

there are at least 20 kids annually in the state who could play for tennessee. not all of them want too, granted but this in state talent thing is out of control. theres at least 20 kids just in memphis with the talent to play d-1. any high school kid has grown up seeing tennessee play with regularity on cbs and espn. we are a high profile program with a huge fan base. i am born and raised in chicago and fell in love with the checkerboard when i was 7 or 8 years old with no ties to the school at all

Point taken, and I agree that that the "lack of in-state talent" is overplayed. But compare 20 kids annually in the state who could play for Tennessee, with the talent of a state like Texas or Florida, that fills the roster of multiple in-state BCS schools.

On a side note, I flipped through my old program from the 1985 Sugar Bowl. I was shocked at how many Tennessee kids were on the roster.

tennessee has better football players than just about any state west west of the mississippi besides texas, cal, and maybe arizona. the problem is that compared to the states in this conference, were not pumpin out the numbers.

I agree about UT being a harder place to recruit, but our tradition is on par with or better than any of the schools you mentioned.

I don't disagree, with the exception that a large part of Louisiana is west of the Mississippi

good talent in Oklahoma, Missouri, Washington, Arkansas and Colorado too.... And Louisiana has an enormous amount of talent.

Not to mention that the vast majority of talent in the state of Tennessee comes from Memphis.. which might as well be in Mississippi.

58 years to win a conference title. That's tradition.

Some tradition? SOME effin tradition? Wow.
Won't even touch the UF comment.

Memphis is 7-8 hours away, so those kids are closer to lots of other schools than UT. It doesn't help us recruit there.

Saying Florida has more tradition than us was a poor choice of words. They have, however, won 2 national championships in the last 5 years. I think that gives them an advantage over us with several of the kids we're competing for.

You can't mention Florida and Tradition in the same sentence. Its an NCAA violation. If not, it needs to be.

Whoa...wait...this can't be right...

All you read on here is how bad this staff sucks at recruiting, how much they don't care about it, how unorganized they are, and how they are too afraid to go after the big recruits...

Are you sure Dooley and staff are actually doing these trips....or is it a PR stunt to try to make fans feel better?

This is when the effort of this staff is going to start to show. Spring ball is over, we're trying to get guys to come to camps, players are finishing their junior years and will have more time to focus on recruiting.

Things are about to heat up in a big way so buckle down.
