Dang this staff is doing work....

Gosh, this really is a tough one. On one hand, we could criticize the staff for not having a bunch of commits some 8 months before the signing date...but on the other hand, if we had a dozen or so commits and lost a number of them at the 11th hour, we would have the opportunity to criticize the staff for being unable to hold onto them. To the naysayers out there, what would be the better choice?

The better choice is to shut up and let the coaches do their thang. Be critical in February.

Have you ever been to Gainsville? There is a reason they call it the swamp...

FWIW, I have lived in FLA since I graduated from UTabout two years ago. I have learned most Florida fans dont know much about their tradition or even their current roster other than the big name guys. They have no clue about anything UF except for recent history and I would even go as far to say that your average UF fan would have no idea Spurrier even played there or won a Heisman Trophy. In fact, when they like to haggle me I just remind them that UF is like new money, and UT is that old money. We have been there before and it wont be long until we are back again. GBO!

I think you mean "heckle", not "haggle". Haggling is bargaining for a better price. FWIW.

I agree with the "Dang, this staff is doing work". More importantly, like Fulmer, we're going across the nation. A couple boys in MI we're recruiting. I always want to have the speed of the southern recruits, but this wideout seems elite, & the RB...we're his first SEC offer. All other offers are Big10, so that could hold some water. Speed is good, but a lot of the northern recruits have good technique & coachability. Gotta like that too, especially when you pair that with ~4 stars!

Well it looks like this staff is putting in work so thats good. But dont praise them yet, lets see how many of these prospects develop true interest int UT first.

True. The LB in VA (Grant) we're recruiting seems highly-touted. Not sure what Chaney's doing recruiting a LB, but he's a good recruiter, so whatever. Hope CLT helps nail him down in Orange.

Chaney is recruiting VA this year which is what CWMG recruited last year. Remember when CWMG was Justin Hunter's lead recruiter even though he was the DB coach?

Asst. Coaches are assigned areas of the country. Doesn't matter if the prospects are offense or defense. They are the primary recruiter for that area and the actual position coach will become involved as the recruitment process progresses.

Ah, right. I remember freaking when WMG became a dirtbag & left for USC like 2 days after getting Hunter's commit, thinking Hunter would go with.

Tennessee Tradition:

All-time record 783–333–53 (.692)
Postseason bowl record 25–22–0
Claimed national titles 6
1938, 1940, 1950, 1951
1967, 1998
Conference titles 16

For the heck of it.....Georgia Tradition:

All-time record 731–389–54 (.646)
Postseason bowl record 26–16–3
Claimed national titles 2 (1942)(1980)[1]
Conference titles 12

Now for the Florida Tradition (became relevant in 1991):

All-time record 654–374–40 (.631)
Postseason bowl record 18–19
Claimed national titles 3
Conference titles 8 (First came in 1991 after having been in the S.E.C. for 59 years)

So there you go.....we have ALOT of TRADITION homeboy....2nd to only Alabama in the S.E.C. Instate recruiting isn't the best...I agree....but you've been living under a rock

if you think we've got no tradition.

God Bless Wikipedia.

Tradition was a loaded word for the poster to use. I understood his point though in relation to recruiting today. Kids aren't looking at the last 10/20/30/100 years they are looking at the last 2 and in that time frame we are on our 3rd coach. I love UT and I love our tradition but I don't neccessarily believe it translates to recruiting in the current environment.
