Danica Patrick to start Daytona Nationwide Race

Let me make my position on Danica clear. I have posted I think she should wait until Fontana to try her first run in Nationwide. I say that with her best interest in mind. If she in any way causes an incident at Daytona, she will be villified by almost all, and it's so easy to run well at Daytona, finish within a second of the winner and be 25th or worse.

I think she is talented, not quite as good as the hype surrounding her, but good enough to drive in NASCAR. Is she good enough to win a Sprint Cup race? I am not sure yet, the transition from Indy cars to stock cars is not easy as others have proven. It doesn't mean those who have failed are not good drivers. If they had taken a path that led to stock cars, they most likely would have been successful. Some drivers can make the change, some cannot. Most Stock car drivers would have some difficulty going to Indy cars.

Give her the chance to prove herself on the track, it is good for NASCAR when it needs a boost. I hope she does well Saturday, but if not, that would not be the best indicater of her potential in NASCAR. If she has mediocre overall results in Nationwide this year, I hope she realizes NASCAR is not a viable option.

"Thanks" if I could.

She may have a few surprises for these guys. She is definitely used to more speed. I think the fun will start when the usual rubbing and bumping starts. I say she handles it fine. Hell she probably thinks shes in a tank compared to what she usually drives.

Speed is a relative thing. 190+ in a stock car can feel as fast as 220mph in an Indy car. It is like driving an older large sedan such as a '89 Buick at 70 and then getting in a Corvette. 70 would feel like you were barely moving. That's a little more extreme, but you get the idea. An Indy car is so much more responsive to steering input, and weighs less than half of a stock car with better suspension. It is really easier to drive. The rubbing and bumping is a different matter. She will have to deal with it by gaining respect, not storming down pit lane stomping her feet.

I got tired of all the Danica updates yesterday. I didn't need them telling me every other lap that she was back in 34th.

Yeah, I know. If it was because she was running well or if they showed pics of her in a swimsuit every time they talked about her I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it...

By the way is she running a full Nationwide season? I don't know if I can stand hearing updates on her every day.

I was under impressed with her Nationwide race. She couldn't cope with the turbulence of plate racing. I stand by my post that it would be a mistake. This has nothing to do with the wreck - not her fault.
