Excuse me if I missed this discussion but it seemed like a throw in this article from GVX:

Vols must rebound against Georgia : Men's Basketball : GoVolsXtra.com

The last line in the article:

Pearl said he anticipates Bone will play in the Rocky Top League this summer. The Vols also will return point guard Daniel West, who has stayed enrolled at UT after being declared academically ineligible in October.

So does this mean that West is a go for next year? Will we finally get some PG depth?

He plays in the time slot before me in intramurals and granted it is intramurals, but he can handle the ball real well and sees the floor well also. His shot is not great, but he will definitely help next year.

This is going to sound stupid, but I'm pretty sure that playing intramurals burns a year of eligibility - at least it did around 2000 when I was in undergrad.

technically it is a year of eligibility. He has 5 years at most to be at tennessee fr, so, jr, sr and a redshirt. He is enrolled so there goes 1 year, now at most he has 4 years of eligibility left.

Game Day atmosphere of UT bball, isn't it a recruiting violation for him to play intramurals?

Hey Urban, Foley, Slive...

Hat, I thought there were some shenanigans involved in his test scores that would prevent us from keeping him and severely harm the program going forward? Did this disappear?

No, it's in the same position it's always been. The testing agency invalidated his test score and is convinced there was improper activity involved. The NCAA has monitored the situation and if the testing agency claims that West and/or representatives of UT's interests actively participated or knew about said wrongdoing, they'll be on the next flight to Knoxville.

Well, I know your thoughts on whether or not there was foul play on our end, Hat, but what are the chances the NCAA actually brings any punishment on UT for this?

I'm not certain UT has any involvement in whatever happened up in Michigan. The more time that passes, the less likely anything is to happen. The testing agency obviously doesn't have evidence strong enough to make a concrete determination. Absent that, the 'AA won't have anything on which to base an investigation.

If hes in college already though, and making good grades, it seems like he should be able to play next year. Then again, I don't know any details to this basically, but still.
