Always interesting to consider possible hidden currents.

This might have just been due. Gotta update every contract from time to time.

But it could also be that someone else was making a run at Dan, and we needed to slam the door in their face.

We'll never know. Just interesting to wonder.

Go Vols!

As much as I love Heupel and Coach V... this was the real coups.
Boyd + Plowman.

Danny has done a great job. He's our first AD that "gets it" since Dickey. But he's also been a beneficiary of things that occurred/were put into place before him. He only hired one of the coaches that is doing well, and the fundraising success he's overseeing is because of the performance in those sports.

While I agree to a point, previous regimes even though they hired Vitello probably wouldn't have been able to retain him. I don't believe the commitment being poured into Lyndsey Nelson, the staff, the head coach, etc. would be the same with prior ADs.

Great leaders work with what they have and add the pieces they don't. That's what we're seeing now. We've not had good leadership in a long time.

This is the low key best move of the year so far. White has turned around the direction of UT sports in such a dramatic way, making the right hires and keeping studs like Heupel and Vitello in place. Donde and Danny have been an absolutely remarkable team, and kudos to her for identifying the right person for the job and making sure he remains here. In my lifetime, there has never been a more golden era for UT sports as a whole.

Fair point. He's a guy that your roster of coaches wants to work under.

When we read the comments Barnes has made in the recent past about this being by far the best administration he has ever worked for, we should take note. Barnes has been successful in a lot of places. For him to say that says a lot.

This will be more important 2 years from now then it is now. Why? The budgets with paying players, taking NIL in house, managing the contributions for the athletics donation vs NIL donation and most of all budgeting to keep as many sports active as possible. 2 years from now a lot of non revenue sports will be gone or on the chopping block at mismanaged schools.

I Believe DW is true CEO type and it will take a great not just competent AD to navigate the next 24 months.
