What’s the fixation with Dolly? I’m happy that she’s a good representative of the state, but I’ve never known of her to openly support UT football, and it’s not like she’s a billionaire. She’s got a million other interests and ventures going…..and she’s in her 80’s.
People on VN were going nuts wanting her to the guest picker on game day. I just don’t get it. She’s cool and all…..and I think she’s a great person….but I just don’t get the fixation.

Tennesseean (and more so East Tennesseean) millionaire, influential, businesswoman just to name a few. There has been a lot worse representation for our university and a lot better. She would be a great rep and not one thing I can see bad.

Who knows, maybe she is a closet Vandy fan do to her country Nashville roots.

The money is for charities. I don't believe the NIL fits that category. Haven't seen her endorsing or associated with the UT, but wouldn't be surprised if she does so clandestinely. However, she does a lot of good things that aren't made public. I can imagine being a Tennessee-borne hillbilly babe, her being a Vols fan. But yet again, the NIL doesn't fit that category for these funds' use.

I know all of that, and I do love her contributions to the state. I’m 43 and have lived here since birth. People just seemed to poo poo Peyton Manning as the guest picker on GameDay, and I’ve never known of anything that’d make me believe that Dolly has any interest in UT football 🤷🏼‍♂️. That’s it.
Furthermore, I’d say a lot of posters in here are younger than me, and Dolly’s presence in the national spotlight began to dim over 30 years ago. I think she was ready to leave a lot of that behind, but you see what I mean…….a lot of posters wouldn’t remember her with widespread fame.

Not too far off but Dolly is 76.. (born 1946) No not a billionaire, but 650 mil is not too bad.

I didn’t mean to call her old, I was merely relating it to the average VN poster. There may be some on here that are 100 for all I know, but I see a lot that say things like “I was on the hill as a freshman in ‘07”, etc that lead me to believe that they are much younger. Dolly is great, don’t misconstrue my intent.
She should have left it the “Dixie” Stampede though. The cave to the PC crowd did disappoint me.

You don't get the fixation on Dolly? LOL. You need to go see the optometrist.
