Danny White possible hire when Barnes retires

Right now, I'm thinking we could be well set to hire from within. Barnes invests himself in people. That's the real thing that makes him tick. If he wasn't in basketball, he would be investing in people some other way.

But there are posters here who would know much more than me on how well suited Barnes' current and former assistants are for a HC position at UT.

No, he's an idiot. Don't let recency bias cloud your opinion of him. White has squandered some really good talent after taking over an infinitely better situation, and still has a slightly worse record at Florida than Barnes does at Tennessee in the same amount of time. That isn't an effort to pump Barnes up, either, but he spent two seasons rebuilding the Tennessee program and struggling thru a 31-34 record in his first two years in the process. How is that he still has a better record than White, not to mention a 5-2 head-to-head record?

Florida, under White, has played a reckless brand of basketball predicated on terrible shot selection and wild, out of control play that typically allows his guards to run the show to the teams detriment, wasting the talent they have had in the paint while those guards shoot them out of games.

I'd have to think there are tons and tons of better options out there than Dawkins. Including several on our staff right now
