I think NV Vol is right on this one. Having also lived in So Cal for many years and still having family there, I can confirm that living there with a low to mid figure 7 digit salary...well, in the words of Dudley Moore: "It doesn't suck". So no, location is not the point.

The point is that AD DW is two years into a rebuild and has just begun to see the work pay off. It would be nuts to walk away from a potential dynasty in the premiere football conference to go to a decaying PAC 12. That would just be a bad business decision and I don't believe he (or most anybody actually) does that.

Very dishonest. You are comparing some of the best pictures of Knoxville with the worst pictures of LA. I was born in Knoxville and went to UT for both degrees. I also worked in LA for ten years. Both cities have excellent areas and both cities have dumpster fire areas. That's not the point.

Danny White is catching the eye of USC and others because he Is showing that he has a vision and a command of the pieces necessary to deliver the vision. If he continues to deliver on back to back all sports championships (now 2 in row) and deliver the Neyland/Tennessee Entertainment District, UT will need to pay the man his market value or someone else will. He is a great asset to UT and my vote is for us to pay the man when the time comes.
Tell that to the 600,000+ people who have FLED California in the last 2 years to other states. The largest “mass exodus” FROM a state on record. And a BUNCH of the to TENNESSEE.

Most of CA is not the hellhole you guys wish it was.
USC is not near the worst parts of LA.

There are some great small towns inland and in the mountains. Middle and Northern CA are nothing like Southern CA. Excellent public transportation *, better weather, and great food from the huge network of farms surrounding every city and town. San Jose and Sacramento are beautiful and quieter cities. College towns with a lot to do. Lots of impressive nature to be seen in the Northern Sierras and the coast. It would take years to see it all.

If I was taking a job at USC, I would demand they provide a great condo and two cars with drivers (one for me and another for the family, in addition to a top salary + a few million.

There is a reason wealthy and well-paid entertainers live there. Parties are like nowhere else in the world. It is well-stocked with stars and has-beens, in addition to a couple million wannabe stars. The wannabe stars are the people that make the fun part of town tick. They are players because they have their beauty and youth to trade for access. They don't make enough money to constantly go to auditions and casting calls, so they look for and latch onto people with money. The women are beautiful, in need of money, and willing to do some stuff to get it. Men, too.

It is a place for a man or woman making money to get in some trouble. Even more than your usual college town.
Lots to offer the wealthy. Not a healthy scene, but one for hard-living and people in the have-fun-at-all-costs stage of life.
It is a place to spend wealth, not build wealth.

None of that sounds like DWhite, but it would appeal to the Kiffins of the world.
I hope they do not offer something our AD could not refuse, but I doubt they would offer so much.

*Buses and trains.
It is more like Europe that way. You can take trips without driving. It won't appeal to most of you, but it is awesome when you get used to it.

Spooky, you ever been to USC’s campus? It’s right by South Central and Inglewood. Campus is surrounded by guards and police. Might not be the worst part of LA, but it’s no UCLA, which is in a much nicer and safer area.

The UCLA AD is on the potential list of AD's on the Athletic's website that would increase that rivalry dramatically if Southern California hired him.

USCw sucks. Song Girls are sluts. Will Ferrell is a one trick pony. Rose Bowl > Colosseum. UCLA is better in all things. Don’t do it, Danny! You’re still a young man!

I went to both in May, 1990.
I must have gotten USC and Westwood mixed up.
The area around USC was working class, and UCLA seemed to be a more affluent area. I didn't explore. I was told the area @ 2miles away from USC, toward LA, was not a place to be at night.
I dated a girl from Norwalk for a couple of years, and went home with her a few times back then.

I attended APSU and it had a bad neighborhood to the North. I was robbed in 1994 beside the ROTC Armory @4pm in the middle of April. The campus police took me seriously, but the faculty acted like I was nuts.

Problems are everywhere in LA area. The homeless are even in Malibu.

I periodically travel to LA on business, if you haven’t been there lately then you don’t have whole story.

Safety is even a concern in Beverly Hills.

If it's money USC has more money than God. Ask Notre Dame. If White stays which I hope he does then it's because he loves UT and is in it for the long term. But if it's money and the intangibles in entertainment and SoCal that comes with being USC AD, he gone.

It's a friggin' click bait article. And I was dumb enough to click on it and see that it was total bs. Quit posting click-bait speculation articles designed to just pass the time in the off season.
The guy asked for a source, and I gave him something I found. Of course, it's speculation.

Oh Danny Boy, the west, the west is calling, from smog to smog and LA county crime. Common sense is gone, and lunacy ascending. The Vols assure, Tennessee is where you must abide.

Look at our sports in '15-'16 and look at us now. Finished Top 3 in all major sports for both men and women sports. That's why they want what we got.
