Darby isn't a TD machine, that is Tim Castilles job. Go look at Darby's career rushing yards and then look at how many touchdowns he has.

Kenneth Darby has gotten back on track. Getting back into the end zone is proving a little tougher.

The Alabama tailback is the only Division I-A runner with 100-plus carries who hasn't scored a touchdown this season. In fact, he's riding a 233-carry TD drought dating back to the third quarter of the Utah State game on Oct. 29, 2005.

"I'm not worried about that," he said. "I feel like I'm going to get in there and once I get in there, I'm going to get in there a lot."

If Darby has learned one thing this season, it's patience.

The nation's No. 4 active career runner has gained 277 yards in the past two games after failing to reach 100 in the first five. The slow start sparked plenty of questions and talk about replacing Darby with backup Jimmy Johns.

"All that is motivation," he said. "It lets you know who really likes you and who doesn't really like you. If you're a KD fan, be a KD fan whether I'm doing good or I'm doing bad. It kind of made me mad. I take that into every game I play now."

It worked for him after a slow start in the overtime win over Mississippi. He ran 19 times for 141 yards after halftime.

"He was almost just ticked off," fullback Tim Castille said. "On the sideline he just didn't look happy to me. He literally looked mad on the sideline. That last quarter, I think he just decided to take it out on the defense."

One reason Darby doesn't score many TDs is the Tide typically puts Castille in at tailback near the goal line.

Darby's resurgence has put him only 490 yards behind Shaun Alexander's school rushing mark of 3,565 yards and 345 behind No. 2 rusher Bobby Humphrey.

Over the past 11 seasons, Bama has followed a cycle. Losing season... mediocre season... 10 win season...

This pattern has played out 3 consecutive times. Bama won 10 last year.

Darby can rush for over 100 and the Vols still beat Bama badly if they limit them to less than 275 yards of total offense. I don't think that Darby will rush for over 100 yards though. He had 115 against Duke and 162 against Ole Miss. Kregg Lumpkin ran all over Ole Miss...Joseph Doss from Memphis had 112 against them... In fact, Wake Forest ran for more against them than Bama did. Ole Miss has only held Vandy to under 100 yards rushing.

Everyone runs all over Duke.

With Bama's rushing for 63 in 04 and in 67 in 05 and only 1 rushing BAMA TD in these 2 games. I would expect to see something about same from this Bama team. Darby gets 65....no TDs.

If we had the front seven of 04 and 05 then I might agree with you. Darby is dangerous - wrap him up and we'll be alright - try to hit him for the tackle and it will be a long day.

i'm hoping for the swarming defense that took the field against Cal
i know UT is missing Harrell & Johnson but they can do it.
pressure on JPW is the key force him to make mistakes early and they will be in his head. Darby is very dangerous they run very well outside but i'm hoping the speed of or LB's can get to him before he turns the corner.Bottom line Chavis & Cut have had 2 weeks to prepare for bama i'm looking for a killer defense showing up and an offense that can score at will. (i hope)
