Dark Knight (merged)

I love his "Batman" voice!

Every thing is based on the possibility of being real.

What would you expect Bruce to do?

Went to the drive in this weekend. Like most people on here, I couldn't stand to hear Bale talk when he was Batman. So annoying. As for Ledger's performance, I came away thinking that anyone could have played that part and been just as good. Just makes you wonder if it would have gotten so much Oscar attention if he were not dead. Actually, I think I know the answer to that.

For what it's worth, Michael Caine was saying Ledger's performance was Oscar material months before he died.

I wouldn't bet on it, but I hope it does. Titanic was number 1 at the box office for the first 15 straight weeks, and that doesn't even seem possible.

SWIL............... make sure to explain Joker's magic trick to me!

:)

Here it is so you can watch it. :)

Saw it again as well. The second time is great, almost like you are watching from a different perspective

Does anyone know what they're plans are for future movies? Are they going to give someone else the role of The Joker or are they going to move along without that character?

IGN: Batman 3 by 2011?

My favorite idea for a future villain is Phillip Seymour Hoffman as The Riddler. They are going to have to go big to top/match Ledgers performance. Surely they won't go back to The Joker with someone else (unless it's like Daniel Day-Lewis).

Just seems wierd if there's no closure with The Joker. Last seen hanging upside down.....

Although I agree with Ledgers performance. Awesome. I'd say the same if he was alive today. It was just outstanding. Naturally if they go with another Joker that person's performace would be under great scrutiny. Perhaps they could partner him with another super villian and it might help cover the fact that someone new is playing the Joker. I too have a hard time thinking someone could match Ledger's rendition.

Although I also believe part of the reason for my being impressed with The Joker was the writing. They gave him a truly sinister personality. The part where he set the mountain of cash on fire, said the mob was just in it for the money, and that Gotham deserved a true villain was when it clicked, for me, just what kind of person they wanted him to be.

Yea I mean The Joker is the ideal character for Nolan to make into the "dark" portrayal of Batman he's going for with his Batman Begins/The Dark Knight series. I agree it shouldn't just leave him dangling per se but I think that's a more suitable ending than to have someone else try to provide closure...regardless of how well it's done.

Are you friggin serious? I swear people seem to forget that this was the same man who was Nominated for Oscar when he starred in Brokeback. And this role was ALOT more difficult to play than a gay cowboy. Did his sudden death raise the people's curiosity thus leading them to want to see the movie more? Yes it did. But to say that he is getting so much Oscar attention because he is deceased is absurd. People were talking about this role and calling it Oscar Worthy before Heath died.

I've always known Ledger was a great actor, but man this dude was all Joker in this film. What I mean by that is when Jack Nicholson played Joker in the older Batman film, you could still see that it was Jack Nicholson. He wasn't really out of his comfort zone, but if you didn't know who joker was before seeing "The Dark Knight" there is a like a 95% chance that you would of never thought it was Heath Ledger. The guy was just that damn good. The voice, movements, facial expression...everything was done perfect. Dead or alive, Ledger deserves the oscar buzz for his role as the joker, plain and simple.

TDK set the tone for up coming comic/super hero movies also. With the success this movie had, the first thing the Director is going to say in production meetings is "How are we going to make this like The Dark Knight?".

Gotta love the "Magic Trick" with the pencil in this movie:eek:lol:

Everyone who has seen this movie should go to see it one more time so we can remove the movie Titanic from the top of the Domestic Box Office.

So according to the guy that played Two-Face he is dead and won't be coming back. But he said that Heath Ledge was supposed to come back as the Joker.

I think that was the original plan. They wanted The Joker in at least the next movie.

Maybe.....but it still has another 100 million to go.

Although worldwide it's not even close.
