I like him. Major conference coordinator experience and two 10+ win seasons at a mid major. That said, he took over a program in pretty good shape already and he only has two seasons under his belt. Would need to know alot more about him to feel confident in him.

I really like Dave. But I don't think we can afford to gamble this time around. We need a proven product.

Solid coach. Awesome defensive mind. Narduzzi, Doeren, and Diaco will all have solid jobs within a few years.

Not at the top of my list, but if all of the major targets say no, he certainly wouldn't be a bad hire.

Good coach, not going to cut it for this hire though. We need a giant splash to start working our way out of the dump Doofus and Kiffy left us.

I wouldn't be opposed, but I think that he is a Big 10 guy and I could see him ending up at Iowa, when that job opens up next year.

I recently graduated from NIU. I really like Doeren and what he has done for NIU, but I'd be scared to bring him into the SEC. I think he'd do well in the Big Ten. I heard he interviewed for the Arkansas job.

Call him at halftime and get him here. 22-4 in his two years. Solid defensive mind and a great overall coach.

He didn't exactly step into a bad situation. He is another Butch Jones. Hazell's success is from scratch.

Sorry Vols-1, hadn't seen this thread.

Doeren has actually made NIU better in his two years. If we have to settle, he could be viable.

Personally, I think he'd be good as a top 10 choice. He would be someone that would stay at UT, in my opinion, and could build a good program. We're already in the dumpster, so unless we get a Gruden or Stoops, it's pretty much going to take a few years. Still, anyone has to be an upgrade from what we've had!

Well if it came down to it I wouldn't be upset with this hire, but he is a midwest guy and I'd always wonder if he would bolt on us if a prominent B1G job came open. He went to school in the Midwest, has spent a good amount of time there and there are plenty of prestigious programs that he could coach and have an easier time winning compared to the cutthroat SEC.

What have we to choose from? None of the available coaches on this board are perfect...this guy can coach!

Mac Champions! I'm a vol since birth. I put myself through school and couldn't afford UT. Went to niu. Very proud Alumn.
