I think he would do alright. Wouldnt be mad if he was next coach. I would be pissed if we hired Golden. 6-6 and 7-6 in the ACC at Miami smh

I think, if he had the connections to get some great quality assistants, I would be okay with this option. But only if the other proven options don't work out.

NIU's head coach will win at a big school. Winning the Mac against a great Kent State team is no small feat.

Would be a good hire. He can coach, winning two straight conference titles isn't an easy task in any conference. He is also defensive minded.

I recently graduated from NIU. I really like Doeren and what he has done for NIU, but I'd be scared to bring him into the SEC. I think he'd do well in the Big Ten. I heard he interviewed for the Arkansas job.

Thanks for the insight. That is my feeling with a few other candidates. Successful SEC, Pac 12, Big 12, or Big 10 Head Coaches for Tennessee...not Big Least or ACC....what do you think?

I think there's a lot to like about Dorean. Honestly he's far more intriguing than Golden and Fisher. b2b Conference titles with that winning percentage makes him worthy of consideration.

I wouldn't be opposed, but I think that he is a Big 10 guy and I could see him ending up at Iowa, when that job opens up next year.

That's not happening.

Ferentz's contract runs through 2020 and he makes 4 million a year.

If they buy him out, they still owe him 3 million a year til 2020.(20 million total)

Iowa is stuck with Ferentz.

My concern with Dave Doeren is that Jerry Kill is the one who built Northern Illinois up and Doeren is winning with his guys. NIU was coming off a 2-10 season when kill took over and he proceeded to go 6-7(2008), 7-6(2009) and 10-2(2010). He did the same at the programs he prior to that and it looks like he might be doing the same at Minnesota but it's too early to tell. Minnesota was 3-9 when Kill took over so far he's gone 3-9(2011) and 6-6(2012). Wouldn't be surprised if they finish above .500 in his third season.

I'd be fine with Jerry Kill or Dave Doeren. Bothof them would win here.
