yes he hired the coach at fsu for bb n dude suxs... not one of harts hire has ever won a championship for him. so odds of him hiring a home run for bb is slim to none..

dude/screwed the football hire n hired the 3rd choice.. cbj might turn out ok but so far cbj hasnt prove jack on the field so was he a championship hire... tbd n will get 3/yrs so this is not a hate cbj comment so relax sunshine sheep...lol

hart has yet proved he wants to be champions but everything he says is he just want to go to a bowl n ncaa bb tourney.. translation just make money so i can have more plastic surgrey..:crazy:

i want to be champions n not just a avg team..but hey thats just me.

Lets look at all of the job opening this off season and see where we fall in that pecking order.

Alabama, Boston College, Clemson, and us.....


What program would a good coach prefer (a) Tennessee (b) Alabama (c) B.C. (d) Clemson



We aren't #1 in the pecking order of those job openings.....

This will let you know the type of coach we have a chance of hiring.....The "A list" will probably be gone before we get our hire... Expecting another "B list" hire for mens basketball, as usual.

I think we are. Look at what Alabama has hired since Wimp was canned for beating the crap out of his mistress/secretary: David Hobbs, Mark Gottfried (the best of the three but also an alum) and Anthony Grant. Tenn may not make a splash hire but since when have those other three made one in basketball? You maybe could argue Rick Barnes who was hired from Providence in '94 but he didn't stick around Clemson long.

A lot of fail in this thread.

A few things:

1. Hart is the blind squirrel which lucked into Butch Jones. And Butch still has a lot to prove. Hart dissed Gruden in the hiring process and it was all Hart.

2. Cheek and the AD threw Pearl under the bus the first time through. Any AD worth a damn would have fought tooth-and-nail. The only excuse for how they handled it is the Kiffin Hangover (thanks Hambone).

3. If Hart allows Bruce Pearl to go to a rival, he and Hambone will occupy a special place in AD Hell all alone. They will officially be the two worst ADs in the history of collegiate athletics.

One other point:

We are not Kentucky. We don't have to only pay the football coach. We have the resources to hire top quality in both money making sports.

If Hart goes the cheap and easy route it will once again show that the UTAD since Hambone has no clue about the dynamics of their profession, about how much an extra $1M brings to the university, etc.

Of course, he has the answer right here in Knoxville, in the easiest decision an AD has ever had to make. Will Hart do it?

Last point: fire Cheek.

Yes he can. He hired Butch and fired Fooley. He shows that he can make smart decisions.

I think Hart is a very good AD and i'm glad we have him. You can all forget about Pearl being hired again. Never going to happen.

Tennessee is by far the best job of the 4 you mention. Not even close. Our arena and overall facilities, as well as passionate fan base, make this the best job amongst these 4 schools. Bruce Pearl elevated this to the 3rd or 4th best job in the SEC. The smart move would be to rehire him and try to move us up to the second best job, behind KY. He can get us there. ( he owned FL BTW)

You know I never intended this to boil down to a "we've got to hire Bruce Pearl" thread but I guess that is the beast it will become in volnation. Plenty of other good coaches out there Pearl-lites.

Pearl will be the basketball version of Gruden. People will come out & say they have a step mother, who's half sister, who's third cousin works with Bruce's neice's unborn fetus & have inside info & expect a deal to be reached blah blah blah..but in the end they'll be proven to be fos.


I'd love for it to happen, but it won't.
