They may fear the NCAA, who they would have to go in front of to "show cause" to hire Pearl if he doesn't win the appeal soon.

People in power don't like to admit they were wrong. Hiring a guy you just fired would be an admission of an error they made.

It is unprecedented to say the least.

IMHO, the Administration (primarily Cheek, who is Hart's boss) are going to look for any excuse that will allow them to retain CCM. Cheek is obsessed with getting UT into the AAU Fraternity. He cares about Athletics only for the revenue it generates. This is why Hart said what he said about Football.

Anything that Cheek perceives will cast him (I say "him" for a reason) in a negative light in the eyes of the AAU body is to be avoided at all cost. I think CBP is one of those "things". His transgressions made Cheek look bad in the eyes of his Academic peers.

Retaining CCM is the path of least resistance. The team will have to implode for them to take action. If that occurs, to BBB, folks higher up in the food chain and with deeper pockets than this humble alumnus (and most of those on VN) will need to exert the pressure and make the case. If that were to occur, it would be a miracle of epic proportion and as you said ... "unprecedented to say the least."

Do we not attend games? Boycott the team or games. All that does is tell future recruits that they are not supported and the team is not supported.

A little bit different than football, but if you can't bring fans into fill the seats then we know Vol basketball disappears into obscurity.

Like Dooley I think Martin was brought into the program to settle it down with the NCAA.

Both are not great coaches but they did get some things right with the in recovery period.

It is very simple, we play am exciting brand of basketball AND win then tickets are sold. That is not occurring now and will not occur under CCM. Creating the expectation of winning fills seats. No great formulas, no magic and no gimmicks, it is a very basic model. The sooner the Mr. Hart makes that decision the better. PLEASE!!!
