to do it and do it well is an art. people like to give jimmy hyams a hard time, but honestly hes very well respected. i like listening to him. to be a sports journalist and to make it interesting would be tough, i think.

back to hooker. he is definitely not my favorite. but hey hes on VN for a reason.

No lie; especially in radio. There are a few that do it well. Mostly it's a bunch of guys with decent voices talking out their butt. Their sole redeeming quality is a slightly better speed dial list than average.

It's especially bad in Knoxville. I've honestly never heard worse sports radio anywhere else (and I've lived in lots of markets, big and small).

And really, calling it "sports journalism" is a misnomer. These guys are reporters. They report basically what the university tells them and then talk about it ad nauseam. No one is out there breaking any big stories or asking any really hard questions.

I would listen to Swain more if he did not have that clown Seth Stokes with him. They will banter and Seth will disagree with Swain but you can already tell Seth has zero clue what he is talking about but by the time the banter is over with , he is agreeing with Swain. Seth is just terrible period. I cringe every time I hear his voice.
