Dawg fans need to get over it

I at least give CMR and UGA credit for having the stones to actually schedule tough out of conference games. Other than us (Cal, UCLA recently....OU, Nebraska and OSU coming up) who else besides UGA schedules a OOC game that is even remotely challenging? UF never plays anyone out of the state of Florida (although if FSU and Miami ever "get back" that will be a lot different.....but they will probably just stop playing them then). UGA didnt look like a "great" team on Saturday, but they also were playing a team I consider one of the top 5 best teams in the country this year, especially on offense. At least UGA isnt scared to play outside of the conference.....gotta respect that.

I would agree with that but I have to think that when UGA scheduled the home and home series (which could have been 4 or 5 years ago) they didnt know OSU would be THIS good.

Georgia definitely beats SC Did you see them against NC State? Turrrrible. I also think they beat ASU and AUB. - my opinion

I think Kentucky and Arkansas might have a shot if they keep playing like they did on Sat

I think before we even play Georgia that every thread on their boards will look very similar to the threads on here last year. Especially when they see what being prepared to play on gameday is really about

That only started with the new AD. Prior to him Dawg fans gave me the same excuse that LG gives us about their pitiful schedule.

No, UGAs pitiful offense made that D look much better than they are. No way OSU is a top five team.

They will have the #1 most balanced offense in the country this year I bet, just like they did last year. Do you really see 5 other teams that are head and shoulders above them? I am just inquiring for opinions sake.....I think their offense alone gives them the ability to play with and beat any team in the country this year.

I was only talking recently.....regardless if they "expected" these teams to be good or not, I give them props for not just scheduling the likes of The Citadel, Charleston Southern, etc year in and out.....then trying to excuse it away somehow with the argument of their in-conference schedule....which every damn team in the league has to play.

This game was probably scheduled when OSU was terrible. You are right though we need FSU and Miami to get good again.

Last year they opened with Ga Southern followed by Central Michigan. They also opened with Ga Southern in 2003 and 2004.

We played a top 10 Cal team (if I remember correctly) and have played UCLA several times through the years (remember the windy game when Leaverton was punting?)...I remember Andy Kelly in South Bend... Wasn't there a crucial 4th down stop against McNabb/Syracuse in 1998?

WKY was a weak opponent, but OSU is not SoCal and we all schedule our cupcakes.

Can't give them special credit for losing to OSU.

Don't get me wrong, I think their offense is good. I also think that UGAs defense is good. That was a good matchup. But UGAs bad offense made OSUs defense look good. I just don't think that OSUs D will be that much improved from last year. They were terrible last year and I think they have the same coaching staff on D.

I said the same thing about the Pirate's Techies last year and we all saw how that worked out.

I hate them, but I give Bama credit for playing those 2 games in the GA dome the last 2 years against Clemson & VA Tech

They will lose to Texas and Oklahoma as always, and play in a mid-tier bowl. Oklahoma State is nothing special. UGA's just not that good.

As for the leghumpers, the Richt As Fulmer Light comparisons just get more and more apt. His job won't be in jeopardy this year, barring an absolute disaster, but this could conceivably be his 2005 -- the year when the halo gets knocked off his head and he burns up all the goodwill and leeway that he's accumluated up to this point. UGA fans expected to beat OSU. UGA fans expect this to be a better-than-expected year to counteract last year's worse-than-expected year.

If he loses to Tech again this year, though, you can just turn the heat up to boil. Two losses in a row to Tech is unforgivable for an UGA coach.

Richt is on the Hot Seat more than most people would think. I have many UGA friends, and none of them are happy with the direction of their program right now. If Richt loses 4 or 5 games this season, he is in BIG trouble.

Oh, I completely agree as far as how unhappy the leghumpers are. I just don't think that there's any way that he actually gets fired this year. This is the year that he has to fire a sacrificial lamb -- Martinez, or Bobo, or both -- and then next year is when the flames start licking his own heels.

I concur. I know many dawg fans as well. Most are very dissatisfied with the current staff. It's quite fun to listen to and watch.

This topic should be stickied.

Richt is the new Fulmer (as I say on all of the AJC.com blogs).

Marlon Brown will be very upset he chose UGA.

Remember, UGA scored what....3 points in their Spring Game? Pathetic. Joe Cox is miserable.

I absolutely HATE THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA.

UGA fans I know are telling me they "got hosed" by the refs in the OSU game and will "run the table" in the SEC and can still beat florida. They must have some good liquor and drugs down there.

There was one call in the game that bothered me, the hard hit on the receiver that led to a penalty. Crap, I'm afraid Berry will be flagged all year for unnecessary roughness if that call represents the new interpretation of the rules.
