IF we get him...we are really going to have a logjam at QB unless someone transfers out. Even if someone does transfer out we are still in a logjam, lol. If Crompton doesn't leave this year I don't think he will (Unless to Div II). Stephens I could see going, I think BJ will stay however. This kid looks really good though..want to pick him up anyway
Another post to start a fight.
Clausen had a security blanket in Witten that Peyton never had. Look at Stallworth's NFL career compared to Kent or Marcus Nash's. Clausen also had Banks and Washington. Tennessee never had those kinds of receivers when Peyton was here. Casey was great on the road and beat UF at the swamp twice, but he also had talent around him that Peyton didn't.
Ironically, the WR's play, spefically Donte Stallworth's big drop(s) in the 2001 SEC Championship killed Caseys legacy with UT fans. If we win that game, not only is Phil's seat A LOT cooler, but I think Casey would be thought of in a more positive light. So while the talent was clearly better, often times the output was disappointing.

Those are guys I can think of off the top of my head that made NFL rosters from that 2001 LSU team. There are probably a few more. Not all those guys got significant playing time in the SEC Championship game, but that was an extremely talented team. They won the national championship just two years later.
Tennessee had something like 27 pros on the 2001 team. That's compared to the 18 you just mentioned.
The guys went after Rohan Davey so hard (he came out of the game cause we lit his a$$ up) that they were tired by the end of that game. Besides, Chavis adopted Tony Dungy's defensive philosophy. That includes getting to the qb first and foremost and forcing turnovers. We force turnovers by forcing the qb to scramble. Luckily for LSU Mauck didn't throw any big picks. And that's not neccessarily true about the d-linemen. There are WRs, a TE, and DBs that start in the NFL from that team. D-linemen only had what 2 guys that start in the NFL now from that team.
There's a new rivals article up on DC. It doesn't really offer any new information, but it mentions that Florida is probably out of the running for DC's services.
His coach said that DC is a pass first qb, and doesn't really like the Florida offense...FSU, LSU, Auburn and others will put the full court press on this kid, but I really like our chances at landing him.
