Congratulations :hi:

I did not vote for the man, but I pray he does the American People proud.

No need to congratulate. This wasn't a football game or any other game. Rather, people with differing opinions striving for what they though best for our nation and to some extent the world.

I did vote for him. But I honor your different opinion and thank you for your prayers. Either candidate would have needed that, in light of the challenges we all face.

Thank you for your kind words though.

Congradulations Obama. Historic day. Time to work together. I want to keep my little piece of wealth I have worked so hard to achieve.

Congrads.

Though voting for Obama, after watching McCains speach, I have a new found respect for him. He is right on so many levels, including that no matter Republican or Democrat, we need to stand united. We are one country, the greatest country on Earth, not two parties.

United behind a guy that made his platform class warfare? No, thanks.

And then Josh Briscoe popped up out of no where and asked McCain if it was just about making a dollar in order to keep the country intact...

Thank God McCain never resorted to that. It would have been so easy for him to scare people about tax increases, misuse the term "socialism," make out of context quotes about redistribution of wealth, and pimp Joe the non-licensed plumber. But he kept it on the straight and narrow.

Not to mention we really don't know much about him as a person..he's kind of hidden.

I didn't realize Obama saying he wanted to "spread the wealth" could out of context. Pray tell what "context" he meant then.

You need to watch the whole video of him with Joe the faux plumber.

The gist of his comments were that Bush tax policies had favored the wealthy and harmed the middle class. BHO was saying that it was great that Joe was about to be able to buy a business (which he is not), but that under BHO's plan, he would have been able to do so sooner, and so would a whole lot of additional people.

The "redistribute" sentence was more about fairness in tax policy and giving a break to someone other than the wealthy for a change, and nothing to do with Marxist ideologies that some would like to imply.

Not true. He specifically stated he wants to increase taxes on the rich and use that money to directly give money to people that aren't paying taxes.

You misunderstood me, I didn't say anything about Obama. I said we should put aside our differences, and move forward as one. I can't remember a time in our country that we were so together, than right after 9/11. We showed our true colors then, and we should work to getting to that point again. No matter if we are Reps or Dems, we are all Americans

I can think of a lot of people who should be taxed more for having kids.

Source? I dare you to find a quote from President-Elect Obama saying that. I watched the whole Joe the Fake Plumber exchange and read the transcript too.

I will accept any other statement by BHO on any other occasion and admit I'm wrong. I'm waiting.

I had no idea Obama was going to do that. Is that for sure, or what?

I have to admit I don't know enough about that specific issue to respond. I have three kids and I make more than $250K a year so I am among the small percentage of Americans who will likely see a tax increase under BHO's plans.

However, with record deficits, two wars, a huge bailout for Wall Street, and a crumbling infrastructure, I do know that we can't afford to continue Bush' tax cuts for the wealthy.

I don't look forward to paying more taxes, but I am selfless enough to know I can afford them more than my secretary and the guy bagging my groceries.
